UT/14 - Rafting, Trekking, Walking and Bird Watching Itinerary

Rishikesh has the good rapids and service providers for a White water rafting experience. Rajaji national park is known for Birding, Jeep Safaris and elephant Rides. Kanatal / Dhanaulti Provide for excellent himalayan views and are recommended for soft trekking. 

Recommended Itinerary (can be customised as per guest preferences and constraints)

  • Day 01-- Delhi to a Camp / Resort in Dhanaulti / Kanatal - 300 kms (8 hours). Dhanaulti / Kanatal are located at 8000 ft above sea level and enjoys a wonderful Himalayan views. Guests have option to take morning Shatabdi Express from Delhi and arrive in Dehradun from where Kanatal / Dhanaulti would be 50/60 kms

  • Day 02 - For adventure seekers, there is a wide choice of activities such as trekking, rappelling, day/night picnics in forests located nearby and they can be set as per the preference.

  • Day 03 - Kanatal - Camp near Rishikesh - 100 kms. 3 hours. Relax for rest of the day.-Enroute visit Rishikesh area temples / Ghats. Camps are typically set on the River Ganges and guests either can relax and enjoy riverside beauty or indulge in one of the activities at the Camp. Evening Camp fire.

  • Day 04 - Enjoy a Run of Whitewater Rafting from Camp to Rishikesh (about 20 kms downstream with enroute halt for lunch).

  • Day 05 and Day 06 - Rishikesh Camp to Lansdowne (160 kms - 4 hours). Lansdowne is a colonial era cantonment town. Guests have options for Walks, trekking and Bird Watching. 400+ species of birds are found in and around Lansdowne. There are several soft trekking routes which can be pursued with Lansdowne as a base.

  • Day 07 - Back to Delhi - 250 kms. 6 hours or Take a train from Kotdwara (40 kms).

Note

  • Guests looking for Elephant ride and Jeep safaris can opt for a stay in Rajaji National Park instead of Lansdowne.

Seasonality - Camps are open during Mid-Sept-April period (Start date and end date may vary based on water levels).

Access - Delhi Airport is an International Airport at about 280 kms (6 hours - 7 hours Drive) from Shivpuri where rafting camps / Rvierside Resorts are located. Rishikesh (30 kms) and Haridwar (50 kms) are nearest Railheads. Haridwar and Dehradun are major railheads that get Shatabdi Express from Delhi (Recommended if you want to avoid Delhi-Rishikesh Drive)
