Ex-Bangalore Train Getaways in and around Karnataka

Following destinations are accessible from Bangalore by a train for a getaway.

Mysore at 150 kms from Bangalore is conveniently accessible by Shatabdi express for a day visit for a 1 night / 2 days getaway. Mysore is visited for its Mysore Palace and Vrindavan Gardens by tourists all over the India when they visit the sector. However more than a destination ex-Bangalore, it serves as a base point to access areas around it such as Coorg region (known for its coffee plantations and known to be "Scotland of India") and wildlife destinations of Nagarhole (80 kms), Bandipur(80 kms) and Mudumalai (100 kms). Nagarhole is one of the best managed park and has wildlife aplenty, however tiger sightings are not as many. Bandipur is better when it comes to Tiger sightings. In Mudumalai one can trek around, do night safaris (Mysore - Ooty highway passes through the sanctuary and has plenty of wildlife sightings on offer).
