Ex-Ahmedabad - Getaways

Ahmedabad is commercial capital of Gujarat and an old city with heritage and character and a modern Ahmedabad which is a mini-metro and a major regional hub for travel in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Ahmedabad itself has House of MG, which is an experience for a heritage stay and for experiencing a well-researched ethnic (vegetarian) Gujarati Snacks and Meal cuisine. Its snack restaurant and Meal Restaurant (Agaashiye) is hugely popular with locals and all tourists coming to Ahmedabad. House of MG also helps guests with exploring the old city, step wells and temples around the area.

Ahmedabad city can be explored for its different Vegetarian restaurants and shopping areas (especially known for textile and handicrafts). As carrying and consumption of Alcohol is prohibited in entire Gujarat, there are no Pubs and Discos.

Ahmedabad comes alive during Navaratri (Festival of traditional dance and Music, around end Sept or early october) which is spread over 10 days ending with Dussera and where locals participate in large numbers.

Another festival for which Ahmedabad is famous is the Kite Festival (15th Jan every year) when the sky is filled with thousands of Kites at a time.

Though Gujarat is not known for too many getaway resorts there are still a few ex-Ahmedabad that are worth a visit for those travelling from outside Ahmedabad. If idea is to indulge in a big of golf then Cambay is one option thats worth considering.
