Tanzania - With highlights like
Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater and Zanzibar, Tanzania is
definitely a country to be recognised both in terms of wildlife and beauty.
For many, it's the ultimate safari destination, and with national parks and
game reserves covering some 33,660 sq km (13,000 sq miles) or 28% of the
country, Tanzania has more land devoted to wildlife than anywhere else in
the world.
The Serengeti National Park is a plain-dwellers' stronghold of 14,763 sq km
(5,678 sq miles), claimed to be one of the best places to watch game in
Africa. The Selous Game Reserve is larger than Switzerland and covers
one-sixth of Tanzania's land surface.
Tanzania's most famous attraction, Mount Kilimanjaro, at 5,895m (19,341ft),
is Africa's highest mountain and the only free-standing mountain in the
world that can simply be walked up.
Zanzibar
- Part of Tanzania has the best beaches in East Africa and therefore
form an excellent option to relax for a few days after a week of hectic park
Safari schedule. Zanzibar offers world class watersports including
scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, kayaking, windsurfing, water
skiing and sailing on traditional local dhows. |

Climate
(Tanzania) : There are four
main climatic zones:
-
The coastal
area and immediate hinterland, where conditions are tropical with high
humidity
-
The central
plateau, which is hot and dry
-
The highland
areas, where the climate is healthy
-
The Moist lake
regions. Here different regions get different quantity of rain from 30
inches to 100 inches a year.
There are two rainy
seasons in the north, from November to December and from March through May.
In the south there is one rainy season, from November to March.
Migration
: The best time to see the migration is usually between June and August when
the wildebeest congregate and prepare to cross the famous Grumeti River.
There are a few excellent camps in this area where you can stay to witness
this natural phenomenon. Wildebeest Migration begins heading towards the
western Serengeti in June before heading towards Maasai Mara. Between December and January the wildebeest gradually begin their
migration back towards the Serengeti.

Access:
Nairobi is the best and most popular point of access for Kenya and Tanzania.
From here guests can fly to other parts of East Africa or take a road
journey. For only Kenya Itinerary, a Road journey ex-Nairobi is recommended
(unless one is only doing Masai Mara). For Tanzania one has an option to Fly
in from Nairobi or cross the border by Road. Other Airports in Tanzania are
Dar es Salaam and Killimanjaro, both get flights from Europe and Middle East
(off course from rest of Africa as well).
