Raheem
Residency is a genuine heritage home situated at an
undeveloped Kerala
Beach near Alleppey. Built in 1868 and showing both
Mughal & colonial influence in its architectural
style, it was the home of the Raheem’s for five
generations over the last 100 years until 2003.
Accommodation
: In
the main house there are six A/C spacious high-ceilinged
bedrooms with traditional Kerala furniture such as
Raheem’s father’s four-poster bed bought as a
wedding gift in 1930. Bathrooms are ensuite and include
one which is open to the skies
The
large hall has a high teakwood ceiling which had been
concealed for generations. The windows have glass
shutters inside, wooden shutters outside and fan lights
with the original stained glass. The furniture is rich
and traditional.
There is also a two-bedroom independent unit in a
separate courtyard, refurbished from old outhouses used
to store coconuts.
