Pilgrimage Destinations in Bodhgaya
  • Bodhi Temple -was built in the 3rd century by King Ashoka and is believed to be the place where Gautam Buddha entered into meditation.

  • Prapitaamaheshwara Temple -built in 11th century; this Lord Shiva temple is famous for giving offerings to dead relatives.

  • Upa-Shakti Pitha - dedicated to Shakti, and is one of the 51 Shakti Peetha.

  • Vishnupaada Temple - is the most sacred site of offerings for the ancestors and has Vishnu's footprint stamped on a rock called Dharmasila.

  • Sun Temple - built in the 13th century by South Indian emperor Prataparudra of Warangal.
