Tirupati
Balaji - built in
the 12th century this Lord Vishnu Temple is supposedly the world's richest temple.
Famous for the deity ornamented from tip to toe. -
Sri Kalahasti (36 kms from Tirupati) - dedicated to Lord Shiva is one of
the Pancha Bhoota Stalams (temples celebrating Shiva as the embodiment of the
primary elements). For

BhadaraKali
Temple - is noted for its 2.7 meter high stone image of the Goddess Kali,
shown in a sitting posture. -
Sri Veeranarayana Temple - originally a Jain temple converted into a Vaishnava
shrine was constructed in the Chalukyan style around 1104 AD. -
Thousand Pillar Temple - this star shaped triple shrine temple was built
by Rudra Deva in 1163 AD and is famous for the richly carved 1000 pillars housed
in the temple. -
Rammapa Temple - houses a Shivalaya built with bricks so light that
they can float on water. In

Prashanthi Nilayam Ashram - built in 1950; this ashram houses several impeccably
maintained temples, a kalpavriksha and a meditation tree, and a lovely darshan
hall where the Swami meets his devotees. | |
