Route - Panhala (2) - Ratnagiri/Ganapatipule (2) (Ex-Mumbai / Ex-Pune / Ex-Kolhapur / Ex-Goa / Ex- Belgaum)

Highlights : Panhala is a quaint hill station at 3000 ft above sea level at 25 kms from Kolhapur on the Ratnagiri Highway. Ratnagiri/Ganapatipule are twin destinations 45 kms apart and both having serene and secluded coastline and Accessible on the Konkan Rail route.  

Recommended Itinerary (Can be modified as per guest requirements / preferences)

  • Day 1 : Reach Kolhapur (either by Train or by road NH 4 (Mumbai-Bangalore Highway via Pune) and from there reach Panhala (25 kms). Day sightseeing within Panhala covering Ambarkhana (fort), Sajja Kothi (1008 AD, Heritage Home), Sambhaji Temple, Someshwar Tank 

  • Day 2: Day sight-seeing to Kolhapur covering Mahalaxmi Temple, Rankala lake, New Palace Museum, Town Hall and near by places such as Jotiba Temple, Radhanagri Dam and Narshimawadi Datta Mandir. 

  • Day 3: From Panhala reach Ratnagiri(100 kms) or Ganapatipule (130 kms). 

  • Day 4 :  Sightseeing around Ganapatipule. Ganpatipule Ganesh Temple, Light house, Birthplace of Lokmanya Tilak, Bhagwati Mandir, Mirkar Wada

  • Day 5 : Leave Ratnagiri/Ganapatipule

Seasonality - This circuit could be done all round the year. During monsoon Panhala comes alive and Konkan coast gets green and beautiful and so most recommended during that period. Winter anyways is good as Panhala enjoys pleasant climate and its the weatherwise best time for the coastal areas.  

Access : Most guests end up driving in from Mumbai / Pune / Belgaum or Goa. Kolhapur and Ratnagiri are both major railheads and therefore this becomes an excellent train getaway
