dating back to 1506.
Situated just
adjacent to St. Francis Church it is reputed to have housed Vasco da Gama
and the Saint after that by Portuguese Governer's home for about 150 yrs
and than Dutch Governor's till cochin was taken over by British in 1795. Having
five captive centuries of history the house is been nicely restored with
every comforts of modern needs, Le Colonial is a 16th era bungalow.
Le
Colonial is full of antiques, period furniture and manuscripts and
therefore a delight for the heritage stay aficionados, artists (it houses
paintings from the Christies), researchers etc. The history is all
there to feel and celebrate at Le Colonial which makes it a must visit for
historians as well.
