Kumbhalgarh stands a wary sentinel to the past glory. Rising from a prominent rigde, 1014 meter high from the sea level, the fort was build in the 15th century AD by Maharana Kumba (1419-63 AD) and has the distinction of being the birth place of great warrior Maharana Pratap. The massive fort encompassed by a 42 km. long boundary wall, the second largest in the world after the great China wall, has seven majestic gates and seven ramparts one within the others.
