Kenya - What To Expect

East Africa is a must visit for its Wildlife Experience. There is no one park that can be considered the "Best" and there are several parks that provide varied experience in terms of sightings, backdrop and overall experience. Besides the Game Reserves, Beaches are another area which are very popular with European guests especially to enjoy some warm weather during Northern Hemisphere Winter. 

What Visitors like - Wildlife / Birding

  • Masai Mara - This is a legendary savanas, 270 kms West of Nairobi. Guest love the park experience, the luxury lodges and if the visit is around the migration period then one can witness the great migration of 2 million Wildebeests and Zebras.

  • Lake Nakuru - Vast lakefront and home to a large flamingo population. Game Reserve around the lake is home to White Rhinos.     

  • Amboseli is renowned for its elephant populations and large herds, including some impressively tusked bulls are drawn to a series of large, lush swamplands

  • The Samburu region is the best place to find several endemic Northern species, such as the Reticulated Giraffe.

  • Meru - This isolated unspoilt wilderness lets the visitor have the freedom to explore the park at a relaxed pace without encountering other people.

  • Tsavo is a birdwatcher’s paradise with numerous species of weavers, hornbills, sunbirds, rollers, and raptors commonly seen.

What Visitors like - Forests

  • Kakamega - This thick equatorial jungle is a haven for birds, reptiles, and a remarkable range of monkeys

  • Aberdares - The forests of this highland range are home to Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino etc.

  • Arabuko Sosoke - This coastal forest offers the visitor the chance to encounter several unusual species of bird and small mammals, and butterflies

  • Mt Kenya - Mountain is surrounded by a belt of verdant forest and is a fascinating destination. Home to one of the planet’s rarest sights, Equatorial Snow

What Visitors like - Hills

  • Mount Kenya Safari Club - This is a favourite hideout of the rich and the famous. Stay here is an experience and a must during Kenya Visit.

  • Mt Kenya - Mountain is surrounded by a belt of verdant forest and is a fascinating destination. Home to one of the planet’s rarest sights, Equatorial Snow

  • Mt Longonot - A dormant volcano whose awe-inspiring crater is a secret world of wildlife

  • Mt Elgon - There is plenty of wildlife and plenty to discover. The peaks are ideal for climbing, and shelter a series of warm geothermal springs.

  • Lorogui Hills - Trekking. Exploring the hills takes the trekker through deep forested valleys and across high open plains, rich with bird and animal life.

  • Western Highlands - These lush green hills are a bird watchers and hill walkers paradise.

  • Shimba Hills - High and Cool, these hills are the perfect getaway from the coastal heat, and home to a fascinating range of wildlife

  • Taita and Chyulu Hills - Framing the vast wilderness of Tsavo, these hills have great wildlife and greater views of Kilimanjaro

What Visitors like - Beaches

  • South Coast Beaches - A wide range of World Class resorts, centred around Diani Beach allow visitors to relax and enjoy this natural paradise with the best standards of accommodation, service and cuisine. There are other low key options like Tiwi Beach for those looking to escape and idle.

  • The beaches of Nyali, Vipingo, Kikambala and Shanzu are home to a good number of resorts for a relaxing holiday.

  • Lamu - The island itself is a beautiful place of rolling dunes and endless beaches, where tiny villages nestle among coconut and mango plantations and lateen sailed dhows ply the waters

  • Tana River Delta - Experience exploring a river filled with hippos and crocodiles.

  • Malindi and and Watamu - Idyllic Tropical Beaches offering a good relaxing beach experience. Watamu Marine National Park is a good option for divers and snorkellers.

What Visitors like - Lakes

  • Naivasha - A boat trip on the lake and encounter local fisherman, countless hippos and over 400 species of birds.

  • Elmeintita - A Walk along the flamingo fringed shores of this beautiful lake

  • Lake Nakuru - Vast lakefront and home to a large flamingo population. Game Reserve around the lake is home to White Rhinos. 

  • Bogoria - This volcanic soda Lake is surrounded by boiling geothermal pools and steam jets, while its freshwater springs draw flamingos and plains game in great numbers

  • Baringo - The traditional fishing ground of the Njemps tribe, is alive with hippos, crocodiles and a wealth of bird life

  • Turkana - Worlds Largest population of Crocodiles

  • Magadi - Volcanic Springs of Magadi. Freshwater springs at the Lake’s shore attract a host of other birds.

  • Victoria - The source of the Nile is also the source of an abundance of Nile Perch, a greatly prized freshwater game fish

What Visitors like - Desert

  • Marsabit - Official eastern gateway to the wilds of the Northern Frontier District. Marsabit is the commercial centre of the area, and its streets are a fascinating showcase of the many Northern tribes and cultures.
