Karnataka - 9 - Pilgrimage Itinerary Ex-Udupi / Ex-Mangalore

- Mangalore (1 night) - Udupi / Manipal / Malpe (2 nights)
 

Highlights - This is the kind of Itinerary that a lot of guests look for ex-Mangalore to cover significant temples within the area. Exact set of temples will depend on the ability to travel and their preferences and significance to them.

Recommended Itinerary (This is an indicative itinerary, Sequence of the activities may vary and depend on prevailing weather condition)

  • Day 1: Arrive at Mangalore early in the morning. Start straightaway for Dharmasthala (62 kms) and Subramanya (130 kms). Come back to Mangalore by evening.

  • Day 2 : Proceed to Sringeri Via Karkala, Moodbidri, Hosanadu, Horanadu. Reach Udupi by evening. 

  • Day 3 - Do day excursion to Kollur, Murudeshwara and some of the other temples listed below.

  • Day 4 - Do Udupi local temple visit and by evening proceed for onward destination.

Note 

  • This is popular with guests arriving from Chennai by early morning train and departing by evening on day 4 for maximum coverage of the area. Those arriving mid-morning or later at Mangalore may be required to spend an additional night at Mangalore. 

  • Guests looking for more comfortable accommodation around Udupi should opt for Malpe or Manipal.

  • Guests looking for resort like comfortable accommodation around Mangalore can opt for a beach resort at Ullal beach (10+ kms from Mangalore town)

Seasonality - Area can be visited all round the year. Sringeri area get a lot of rainfall and so Horanadu may not be possible sometime due to bad road condition. 

Access : Mangalore gets flights from some major cities of India and gets even International flights. Mangalore is a major railhead on the Konkan rail route.
