KAR/05 - Mangalore / Udupi (2 nights)--Chikmagalur / Hassan (2) - Bhadra - Shimoga (2) - Kalasa(1) - This is a new tourist circuit that covers beaches and temples of Mangalore/Udupi, Plantations of Chikmagalur, Wildlife and activities at Shimoga and heritage sector of Halebid and Belur.

Suggested Itinerary (This is an indicative itinerary, Sequence of the activities may vary and depend on prevailing weather condition)

Day 1: Arrive at Mangalore / Udupi and transfer to a Beach Resort. Enjoy and laze around beach and relax for rest of the day. 
Day 2 : Local sightseeing of Temples and St Mays Island 
Day 3: Transfer to Chikmagalur or Hassan (160 kms - 4 hours). Relax for rest of the day.
Day 4:
After Breakfast Visit Halebid and Belur Temples (Half Day Sightseeing)
Day 5 : After Breakfast Transfer to River Tern Lodge Bhadra Project. In the evening Avail Boat Ride. 
Day 6:: Early morning Jeep Safari before Breakfast. Relax rest of the day.
Day 7 : From River Tern Lodge transfer to Silent Valley Resort (120 kms - 3 hours), Kalasa and from here visit a waterfall. 
Day 8:  Leave after early breakfast for a full day sightseeing of the area. 
Day 9: Leave for Bangalore (310 Kms) / Mangalore (120 kms - 3 hours) / Udupi (120 kms - 3 hours) after breakfast.

Chikmagalur (State: Karnataka Category: Plantation Retreat)

Chikmagalur is a plantation retreat known for its plantation of coffee and spices. It is located at 160 kms from Mangalore through a very picturesque and hilly terrain.

There are quite a few options for traveling around Chikmagalur:

  • Ancient Temples known for their Architecture : Halebidu Temples (40 kms) and Belur Temples (24 kms)

  • Kemmanagundi - 56 kms - A Hill station with fabulous views

  • Sringeri Mutt - 105 kms

  • Ayyanakere, a picturesqque fresh water lake set amidist seven hills, is just 20 kms from the Chikmagalur.

  • Baba Budanguri Hills (22kms) - A Dargah with good views around.

Activities around Chikmagalur are:

  • Jungle Safari at Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. You are likely to see leopard, gaur, elephants, sambar and other wild animals.

  • Trekking to the peak of Karnataka's Highest Peak   Mullayangiri and enjoy a panoramic view from a height of 6329 feet .

  • Educative visit to a Coffee Estate, followed by a tour of one of the processing factory, where different varieties of coffee are processed.

Bhadra Wilderness Retreat (State: Karnataka Category: Wildlife / Nature Retreat)

Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary which is situated in the midst of the Western Ghats of Shimoga dist around  Chikmaglur area in Karnataka. 

ACTIVITIES 

  • Jeep rides into Bhadra Tiger Reserve Wildlife Sanctuary, which is about 4km from the resort.

Kalasa is a Jungle retreat located in cloes proximity to Kudremukh National park known for thick tree cover and plantation around it. It is also known to be close to Horanadu where Annapporneshwari Temple (2 kms) is located.
