Ranthambhore National Park

It hosts a multitude of wild animals, the park boasts of playing host to tigers, leopards, the elusive caracals, striped hyenas, sloth bears, jungle cats, wild boars, crocodiles and so on. Besides, there are over 300 species of birds, from the rare Indian Courser to the beautiful Painted Sand Grouse.
You can go for National Park rides, jeep safaris, camel rides, bird watching excursions and nature walks.

Resorts at Ranthambhore and Sawai Madhopur provide Canter Safaris. Sightings are Average for Tigers and Average to Good for other Mammals. Park Remains Closed from 1st July to 30th Sept.

Park Access is by way of a walk or by hand Rickshaws. Guide Service is readily available. All visitors to Keoladeo Ghana, Bharatpur need to obtain an entry permit from the Warden or Ranger at the entrance to the park. Extra charges are levied for cameras and photographic equipment.

At last count in 2005, tigers are no longer there. Other carnivores of the area are the panther, jungle cat, jackal and hyena. Other animals include the sambar, chital, wild boar, hare, nilgai and porcupines. The bird-life comprises of the pea fowl, gray partridge, quail, sand grouse, tree pie, white breasted kingfisher, golden - backed woodpecker, crested serpent eagle and great Indian horned owl.

Jeep Safaris can be Provided by the Sariska Palace. Park Remains Closed from 1st July to 30th Sept.

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary

  • It is located at 80 kms from Udaipur covering an area of 578 sq Kms and is at an altitude of 500 to 1,300m. 

  • The kumbhalgarh sanctuary is supporting a rich variety of wildlife like the Panther, Sloth Bear, Wild Boar, Four Horned Antelope and scientifically bred Crocodiles in the lake, are the major attractions. 

  • The Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary is also noted for Flamingos, Cormorants, Spoonbills and Egrets usually seen in winter.

Jaisamand Sanctuary 

Jaisamand Sanctuary is situated 50 kms south of Udaipur the picturesque city of lakes verdant valleys and hills. It is on the bank of Jaisamand Lake, the second largest artificial Lake in Asia. The sanctuary extends over an area of 52 sq kms of thick forests land.

The leopard, hyena, jungle cat, fox and wolf are among the carnivores of the sanctuary. Other wildlife here includes sambar, chital, langur and chinkara. The Jaisamand lake is the abode of crocodiles, turtles and a variety of fish. Various species of terrestrial and water-birds can also be seen here.

Sighting is Average and Jeep Safaris are arranged by the Jaisamand Island Resort.

Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary

Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary is situated 5kms in the West of tourist city Udaipur, which surrounds the Sajjangarh Palace overlooking Udaipur City. From the palace, one can have a magnificent view of lakes of Udaipur and Aravalli hill ranges. The view of Sunrise and Sunset attracts every visitor atop of Bansdara hill.  Safari Park was created and wild animals like Chital, Sambar, Wild Boar, and Blue Bull were reintroduced. Animals like Panther, Hyena, Hare and Jackal has reappeared apart from variety of reptiles and birds. The wall extended further and now the entire hillock has been fenced, improving the vegetal cover of the sanctuary area.

This range is a part Arravali Range & the most striking feature is its stunning rocks. The vegetation is sparse & brings the rocks to the forefront . This combination of bare rocks & sparse vegetation makes for some wonderful Leopard sightings. Mount Abu Sanctuary 

The sanctuary spread over 288 kms is dominated by subtropical evergreen forests known for its cool refreshing air, fully charged with the jasmine.More than 250 species of birds are found here, but the speciality of the Abu sanctuary is the grey jungle fowl. The leopard sloth bear, wild boar, sambar, chinkara and langur are the other inhabitants here. The sanctuary provides an ideal habitat for Sloth Bear. This sanctuary is recommended for bird lovers. Jeep Safaris are not available.

Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary

The lake and forested hills of this reserve, 32 km from Bikaner on the Jaisalmer road, are inhabited by wildfowl, hares , wild boar, desert foxes and a number of deer and antelopes including blackbucks and blue bulls. The lake at Gajner attracts water birds in thousands. Imperial sand gouse migrate here in winter. Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary, houses the former Hunting lodge of Bikaner and has a beautiful lake surrounded by a dense forest. Jeep Safaris are arranged by Gajner Palace.

The Desert National Park

Sand dunes form around 20% of the Park. The major landform consists of craggy rocks and compact salt lake bottoms, intermedial areas and fixed dunes which are quite suitable for the chinkara to move at high speed. The blackbuck is another common antelope of this region. Other inhabitants are the desert fox, Bengal fox, wolf and desert cat.

Sita Mata Wildlife Sanctuary 

The Sita Mata Jungle is covered by hills and valleys ranging in altitude from 280 meters to 600 meters. The Sita Mata Jungle is located in the Southeastern part of Rajasthan in both the Udaipur and Chittorgarh districts. The bio-diversity found in the Sita Mata Jungle is unrivalled with a staggering 121 separate species of plants, 24 main species of trees, 275 species of birds, and 54 species of mammals and reptiles.

Up until 1975 the Sita Mata Jungle was the private hunting grounds of the Jagirdars or Counts of Dhariywad. In 1979 the Government of Rajasthan State declared 422.95 Square kilometers of this forest to be a protected Wildlife sanctuary.    

The wildlife in the Sita mata jungle includes 44 IUCN red listed critically endangered Namdapha "flying squirrels" found ony in the Sita mata jungle in nothern India. Fifty spotted black, yellow, and cream coloured panthers roam the Sita Mata jungle at night. Other rare wild cats in the Sita Mata jungle include 78 jungle cats, and 119 civets. There are approximately 145 separate species of plants and trees in the Sita Mata Jungle including 7 plants on the International Union for Conservation endangered plant species list, one of which is the rare Vanda Orchid

Jalore Wildlife Sanctuary

The fauna of our Jalore Jungle area mainly consists of Indian gazelle, Peafowl, Blue-Bull, Leopard, Indian desert Zird, Desert Monitor Lizard, Mongoose, Sand Snake, Desert Fox, the Rusty Spotted Cat (the smallest Wild Cat in the world), the rare Asiatic Wildcat, Desert Cat, Hyena, Vulture, Jungle Owl, Ring, Little Brown and Spotted Dove, Black Winged Kite, Rock and Jungle Bush Quail, Large Grey and Jungle Babbler, Purple Sunbird, Small Green Bee-eater, Alexandrine and Rose-ringed Parakeet, Indian Myna, Indian Nighten-gale, Tawny Eagle and another approximately 150 species of birds.

The flora mainly consists of Mithijal (Salvedura Olyeoidis), Kaejuri (Prosopis Sinvevia), Rohida (Tecomela Andulaeta), Tribulus Rajasthaninusis, Banyan, Pipal, various wild savannah grass including Scenia and Dahmun, Thor (Uphorbia Cardesepholia), and various wildflowers.
