Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary

100 sq. kms wildlife sanctuary. Bhimashankar is conserve red forest area and wildlife sanctuary is home to a wide variety of animals Leopard, Sambar, Barking deer, Porcupines, Grey Junglefowls, Wild pig, Hanuman langur, Rhesus macaque and Flying Squirrel etc.. Blue Mormon organises Park Visits.

Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve

Tadoba-andhari Tiger reserve has an area of 625.40 sq. km. This includes Tadoba National Park, created in 1955 with an area of 116.55 sq. km. and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary created in 1986 with an area of 508.85 sq. km.

The Sanctuary is home to Tiger, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Gaur or Indian Bison, Rusty Spotted Cat, Ratel, Indian mouse deer, Spotted deer, Sambar, Wild Boar, Four horned antelope, Wild dog, Flying Squirrel etc. (Source - http://projecttiger.nic.in )

Tadoba Near Chandrapur

Melghat Tiger Reserve

Melghat area was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1974. Presently, the total area of the Reserve is 1676.93 sq. km. The core area of the Reserve, the Gugarnal National Park with an area of 361.28 sq. km. and buffer area of the Reserve, the Melghat Tiger Sanctuary with an area of 788.28 sq. km. (of which 21.39 sq. km. is non-forest).

More than 700 naturalised plant species have been enlisted in Flora of Melghat. These species belong to about 400 genera representing as many as 97 families. There are 90 tree spp., 66 shrubs spp., 316 herbs spp., 56 climbers, 23 sedges and 99 grass species alongwith 60-70 newly identified species. (Source - http://projecttiger.nic.in )

Nagzira Wildlife Reserve

The land vegetation of this sanctuary has diverse type of vegetation ranging from dry mixed forests to moist forest. The forest type is Southern Tropical Dry Deciduous Forests. . Some of the lakes are Nagzira Lake, Chorkhamara Lake, Bodalkasa Lake, Rengepar Lake, Murpar Lake, Lendezari Lake, Malutola Lake, Thadezari Lake, Balapur Lake, Badbadya Lake, etc. The flora includes major tree species, small trees, shrubs, herbs, grasses and a few under-shrubs. Major trees are Ain, Dhavda, Bija, Garari, Tinsa, Tendu and Surya. Teak grows sparsely while Bamboos grow plentifully.

The forests provide ideal conditions of harborage to a variety of birds and animals. The animals commonly spotted are Tigers, Panthers, Leopards, Bisons, Sloth Bears, Sambars, Four-Headed Antelopes, Blue Bulls, Chitals, Barking Deers, Mouse Deers, Civet Cats, Jackals, Jungle Cats, Spotted Hyenas, Wild Dogs and Hares. Among the birds that are prominent and commonly seen are Peafowl, the Grey Jungle Fowl and the Red Spur Fowl. The habitats of sanctuary include 34 species of mammals, 170 species of birds, 36 species of reptiles, 4 species of amphibians, and number of fishes. The invertebrate fauna includes, besides a number of insects and ant species, 49 species of butterflies.
