Ex-Goa Advenure Itinerary - Wildernest (2 nights) - Dandeli (2 nights)- Karwar(2 nights) -  This is an off-beat adventure itinerary ex-Goa for destinations in North Karnataka region.

Best Season to Visit - Oct - May

Suggested Itinerary (This is an indicative itinerary, Sequence of the activities may vary and depend on prevailing weather condition)

Day 1: Arrive at Thivim Station (North Goa) or Dabolim Airport. Proceed to Wildernest (50 kms from Thivim or 90 kms from Dabolim Airport). Overnight at Wildernest Resort at Chorla Ghats at 2500 ft above sea level. Evening visit to the highest point in the area. Evening Dance Performance by the Locals and get treated to authentic Mix of Coastal Cuisine from Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka (Veg and Non Veg).

Day 2 : Go for 2 hour Trek to the waterfall after the breakfast. Relax in the afternoon. Evening visit to nearby villages. Watch Wildlife Films in the evening and get treated to authentic Mix of Coastal Cuisine from Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka (Veg and Non Veg).

Day 3: Leave Wildernest after Breakfast and Leave for Dandeli (Approx 70 kms - 2 hours Depending on the Resort you choose). Arrive for Lunch and relax in the afternoon. Evening Coracle Ride in the river next the resort, bird watching and a nature walk. Watch Wildlife Film and have dinner in the evening.

Day 4 : Leave early morning (6:00 AM) for the Jungle Safari reach by 9:30 and have breakfast. Relax after breakfast. After Lunch leave for a Visit to Vantage Point to view Dam Site. Enjoy Barbecue Dinner by the riverside,

Day 5: After Breakfast Leave for Karwar (110 kms- 3 hours). Arrive at the Jetty and take transfers to the Island. Have Lunch and relax. In the evening go boating several kilometers up Kali River or enjoy a round of Beach Volleyball or just laze on the beaches. Enjoy a quiet dinner by the Sea.

Day 6: Just relax for the entire day or take up one of the optional activities.

Day 7: After breakfast after a boat transfer back to mainland, Leave for Madgaon (72 kms) or Dabolim Airport (100 kms)

Tip: Extend 1 more night at Dandeli and take up White Water Rafting (optional activity).

Note: Same itinerary can be reduced to two destination and 4 night itinerary by picking any two destinations.

DESTINATION INFORMATION

Chorla Ghats (State: Maharashtra Category: Jungle / Adventure) - 2 nights

Swapnagandha Valley (chorla Ghats) is located on the border of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa overlooking Three Magnificent Waterfalls at a distance and is surrounded 20 kms on either side by dense forest. Swapnagandha Valley is one of the few actively protected and managed eco-sensitive areas in India and is home of a variety of Flora and Fauna. Leopards, Wild Boar and Bisons are spotted in this region. However the region is known for being home to a variety of plants with medicinal value. Wildernest is also a delight for birding as there are 150 varieties of birds spotted there along with innumerable varieties of Moths, Butterflies, Spiders and other insects.

Dandeli (State: Karnataka Category: Wildlife) - 2 nights

There are two wildlife sanctuaries; the Anshi National Park and Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary. The whole district is a dense forest with around 70% area under forest cover. There is plenty of bird-life and animals here, but the sighting of animals is a matter of chance. A coracle ride down the river Kali is a memorable experience. You will encounter large crocodiles and turtles, apart from dozens of different species of birds. Accompanied by experienced naturalists, you can go on elephant back or in a jeep ride into the forest.

RAFTING :-
1. Bison River Run (04 hour run over 13 kms. with lunch) - 
2. The Mid Run (2 hour run over 06/07 kms.)  
3. Soft and Must (01 hour run over 03 / 04 kms.) 

Wildlife : The main Wildlife species include Elephant, Tiger, Leopard, Gaur, Sloth Bear, Civet Cat, Wild Boar, Sambar, Spotted Deer, Mouse Deer, Barking Deer, Mongose, Porcupine, Wild Dog,Giant Squirrel, Flying Squirrel, Jackal, Common Langur, etc.

The main Bird species include Magpie Robin, Blue Headed Gound Thrush, Golden Back, Woodpecker, Indian Cuckoo, Crested Serpent Eagle, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Grey Horbbil and a large variety of other birds.

Other interesting sight seeing areas within the sanctuary include: 

Syntheri Rocks, Vincholi Rapids, Sykes Point,  Kavala Caves .

Karwar (State: Karnataka Category: Beach Getaway)

Devbagh is accessible from Karwar known as a land of converging landscapes. Karwar lies on a thin strip of tropical sand that is bound by the Western Ghats on its eastern side and embraced by the Arabian Sea on the west. On entering Karwar, one immediately comes face to face with the sea dotted with several small islands on the horizon. Distinct amongst them, about 3 kms. away, is Devbagh.

Devbagh beach, has an endless stretch of pristine sands bordered by casuarinas and the blue waters of the
Arabian Sea . Devbagh is also a centre for snorekelling. Visitors to Devbagh typically also visit Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary at 115 Kms eastwards.

Nearby places of Tourist interest

Banavasi

It is an historical place near Sirsi, 60 kms from here is Yana, a small village with unique rock formations. Yana is also a popular rock-climber's haunt.

Kurumgad Island

It is extremely picturesque and has an old fort and a shrine

Sadashivgad Hill fort

It is one of the attractions of Karwar and houses a Durga Temple .

Excursions from Devbagh  

Bhatkal

135kms south is a historical township. The ancient port town has temples of Vijayanagar times and many interesting Jain monuments.

Gokarna

An ancient center of Shaivism, Gokarna is situated at a distance of about 55kms from Karwar.

Lalguli Falls

Lalguli Falls is a picturesque waterfall formed by the river Kali. The Malemane falls also deserve a visit.

Murudeshwar

Located amidst idyllic surroundings, Murudeshwar offers, a breath taking view of the sea from the hill by the shore at 95 kms from Karwar.

Shivaganga Falls

140kms away, amidst scenic surroundings, the river Souda falls into a deep valley from a height of 74m to form the falls.
