The Zagreb Cathedral is the tallest building in Croatia and a stunning example of Gothic architecture. The cathedral is dedicated to the Assumption of Virgin Mary. Although a religious building has stood on the site since the 9th century, the present cathedral was built only during the latter part of the 13th century. After a massive earthquake in 1880, the cathedral was renovated by architect Hermann Bollé, who added the impressive 105 metre high bell towers.

This 13th-century church is one of Zagreb's most emblematic buildings. Its colourful tiled roof, constructed in 1880, has the medieval coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia on the left side, and the emblem of Zagreb on the right. The Gothic portal, composed of 15 figures in shallow niches, was sculpted in the 14th century. The interior contains sculptures by Ivan Meštrovic. You can enter the anteroom only during opening hours; the church is open only at Mass times.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is Europe's most stunning natural wonders. The national park was first natural site to be listed under the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spread over 296.85, the park is most renowned for its pristine lakes, waterfalls and caves. Currently sixteen lakes can be seen from the surface and they separated into the upper lakes and lower lakes. The national park is home to many endemic species of flora and fauna. The best time to visit the park is during spring and autumn when the waterfalls are flush with water. Although winter offers its own beauty, the snow limits access to the park.
