Bhutan
- What To Expect |
|
Bhutan is
favourite destination for those who like a bit of the culture, history,
tradition in unison with natuural beauty, Hills, Himalayan Views and
landscapes.
What
Visitors like
-
Thimphu
(7656 ft)- Capital city with a character. No traffic lights,
Structures full of Buddhist motifs and laidback character definitely is
a throwback into 1960s / 1970s style feel. [Sightseeing]
-
Paro
(7200 ft) - Only International airport in Bhutan and one of the most
visited. It is a riverside town full of monasteries, hill views and
laidback character. [Sightseeing]
-
Punakha
(8700 ft) - Punakha valley is famous in Bhutan for rice farming. Both
red and white rice are grown along the river vallley of Pho and Mo Chu,
two the most prominent rivers in Bhutan.
-
Phuentsholing
- Phuntsholing is the most famous gateway to Bhutan from India. It
is about 180 km from Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.
-
Trekking
: Trekking in Bhutan is very different from other parts of Himalayas.
Here it is for serious trekking adventures through very remote villages
and one can do anything from a week to a month in mountain ranges from
low altitude (9,500 ft) to medium (10,500 ft) to very high (16,000 ft).
-
Festival
: Autumn and Spring months are full of festivals around Bhutan where the
countryside and few town / cities of Bhutan come alive when tourists
from all over the world arrive to experience this cultural fiesta.
What
to Expect - Bhutan is as pure and
laidback as it can get. So any one expecting any sort of action, modern day
frills and entertainment must feel wary. However for those looking for
pleasant / cold weather, naturally scenic surroundings, a bit of history /
culture / tradition and a throwback era feel will certainly love the
experience.
