23 species of mammals
are found in Rajaji National Park including tigers, leopards, elephants, deer,
jungle cat and sloth bear. 315 species of birds are also found most prominent
include pea fowl, woodpeckers, pheasants, kingfishers and barbets and migratory
species during the winter months. Besides that, the rivers which flow through
the park harbour trout and mahseer.
Rajaji is accessible
through different gates within 25 km of Dehradun, 9 kms of haridwar, 6 kms from
Rishikesh and 25 km from Kotdwar. Elephant Rides are subject to availability. |
