Driving Itineraries
Driving Itineraries are for those who want to explore themselves on road instead of hiring a car. While planning a driving itinerary, Following are the criteria to be looked at:
-
Spacing and Time between Destinations - Its important to space out destinations in a way that does not leave everyone too tired to enjoy. So based on the sector chosen and prevailing Road conditions and driving conditions, a driving itinerary is planned.
-
Routes and Stopovers - Routes are planning considering ease of journey and the driving experience. While in Tamilnadu, a ride on the East Coast Road (ECR) is recommended for the sheer pleasure instead of the inland national highway.
-
Accommodation at every stage - A well planned driving Itinerary has accommodations reserved at every end to avoid surprises. Veterans at this would agree that trying a find a good hotel on a busy weekend or holiday season anywhere at the fag end of the evening is not a good idea.
-
Guest Interest and Variety - A driving Itinerary that runs through only temples or only beaches or only wildlife parks can lose the fizz. So variety is of paramount importance. States offering variety of routes, enroute scenery, different types of destinations etc. are always a favourite with holiday planners. So best and most scenic and varied driving itineraries can be made out of Sikkim, Uttaranchal, Kerala and Karnataka. However other states such as Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Tamilnadu cannot be considered too far behind.
Nivalink has organised driving Itineraries from 7 nights to 30 nights under driving Itineraries based on 100,000 kms of on road experience.

Self-driving car hire is still a concept in infancy in India. Most Metro cities have car-hire companies that facilitate the same. However there is still some amount of paperwork required before one can get a self-driven car hire.
