Today the castle serves as the official residence of Czech Republic's President. The castle dating back to 870 AD was initially built as fortress. The Guinness Book of Records lists the Prague Castle as the largest ancient castle in the world. The castle complex is home to magnificent St Vitus Cathedral. St Vitus Cathedral is a Roman Catholic Church and the largest and the most important church in Czech Republic. The cathedral is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture. The church was commissioned in 1344 and took almost 6 centuries to complete.
