Reasons to Visit
  • War Remnants Museum - The War Remnants Museum is a sobering and unforgettable museum which details the effects of the 30 year long war between America and Vietnam. There are immaculately preserved tanks, planes and other war machines in the outside grounds.
  • Bonsai River Cruise - Bonsai dinner cruise is still a unique experience. Watch the city lights at sunset from the deck of a traditional 19th-century dragon boat, take in a show and enjoy a buffet meal in style.
  • Scooter Tours - Exploring the streets on a bike is an exhilarating way to get a feel for a city with nearly 5 million motorbikes.
  • Saigon Central Post office - Designed and built by French architect Gustave Eiffel (yes, he designed another fairly famous building or two), the Gothic-styled Saigon Central Post Office began its life in 1886 and remains one of the country's most celebrated structures. Inside, beneath a long, domed roof, walls decorated with French colonial maps flank a portrait of Ho Chi Minh, while the elaborate tiled floors complete the refined look.
  • Markets - District 1's Ben Thanh Market is certainly the most famous and popular — there are more than 3000 stalls. Alternatively, district 1's Tan Dinh specializes in silks and clothing material.

The centre of the allied command and the place where the North Vietnamese claimed victory in the American War, Reunification Palace has played its part in some incredible scenes. This ageing palace has essentially been frozen in time since a North Vietnamese Army tank smashed through its gates in 1975.

Mariamman Hindu Temple is a beautiful example of the bright and vibrant architecture of Hindu places of worship. As the only active Hindu temple in Ho Chi Minh, it acts as a community base for the small community of Hindus living in the city.

The Cu Chi Tunnels are an immense network of connecting underground tunnels located about 40 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). This marvellous tourist attraction lets visitors experience what it must have been like for soldiers who used an extensive network of tunnels to move around undetected by their enemies.
