Hitler's Eagle's Nest is chalet like building built on the sub peak of the Hoher Goll. The Eagle's Nest was built as a 50th birthday present for Adolf Hitler as a tea house retreat and to entertain dignitaries. 3000 men toiled for over 13 months to build and complete this ambitious project in advance for Hitler's birthday. Perched on a mountaintop, the Eagle's Nest offers panoramic views of the Bavarian Alps. Today the Eagle's Nest is home to a restaurant and a popular tourist attraction.

The National park is the main tourist attraction for which tourists and locals come here to get away from the city hubbub. In winters it serves as a major ski resort for its steep slopes. One can explore the forest on foot or hike up to a deserted spot without any problem.
During the days, one of the major producers of white gold, the town has now opened the salt mines for public. Take a train into the mines to explore the concentrated lake and the salt museum that explains the methods of processing and exporting salt.
