Santiniketan visit in Feb 2011, was part of a wider exploration of West Bengal plains. Tourism shoots had just begun to show up and we wanted to have the first mover advantage. The area of was rustic and not ready for mainstream tourism (No proper accommodation). Visiting Shaktipeetha Temple and Vishwabharti University (which later was declared a UNESCO world heritage site) was definitely the highlight of this leg of the trip.
