The Great Synagogue is the second largest synagogue in the world with a seating capacity of 3000 people. The synagogue was built between 1854 and 1859 in a Moorish Revival style and has several Islamic and Arabic influences as well. The synagogue complex includes the main synagogue, the Heroes' Temple, a graveyard, a memorial and the Jewish Museum.
