Majuli has been the cultural capital of Assam since the 16th century and today is one of the largest Riverine islands in the world.Majuli is now visited for its Satras (monasteries and hermitages). Majuli is visited from Jorhat and accessible via a boat ride. The area is also a bird watchers paradise (Nov - March). There are number of craft centres here that are excellent in Mask makng and Pottery.
