Ellora is set at about 30 kms from Aurangabad and is a World Heritage Site. Ellora represents the best of Indian rock-cut architecture. The 34 caves are structures excavated out of Charanandri hills. Buddhist, Hindu and Jain rock-cut temples and viharas and mathas were built between the 5th century and 10th century. There are 12 Buddhist, 17 Hindu and 5 Jain caves. It is a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India..
