Curieuse Island is small granitic island close to Praslin Island. The island is famous for its russet coloured soil, coco de mer palm trees and Aldabra Giant Tortoise. Curieuse Island is only island besides Praslin where the coco de mer trees grow naturally. The island is now home to the breeding programme for Alabra Giant Tortoise, that roam freely on its beaches.
