Bithoor is situated on the left bank of the Ganges, and is the centre of Hindu pilgrimage. Brahmavart Ghat is the holy ghat of Bithoor, where the disciples of Lord Brahma pray.Patthar Ghat is another Ghat here which is visited for its large Shiva Temple.Valmiki Ashram here is where epic Ramayana is said to have written by Valmiki. Forests around here Luv and Kush, sons of Lord Rama were believed to have taken birth. Bithoor has been closely associated with the Indian independence movement, especially the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
