Fort Begu - An Experiential heritage hideaway

Heritage Hotel | Heritage Hideaway

Begu (or Begun) is set around a 15th century fort spread over 30 years which is carefully restored into one of the most authentic heritage hideaways one can find in Rajasthan.

If pretense, stereotyped experiences, artificially friendly hospitality, tourists and all that goes with it is to be avoided then Fort Begu is one to recommend.

The fort has been carefully restored and run by royal family members and their team. Fort Begu and its members have many tales of the bygone era to share. Fort Begu is still small and therefore a personal experience. It’s not a getaway resort where you will find noisy family travelers but is a kind of place where you will find well-heeled experiential travelers.

Meals at Fort Begu are authentic Rajasthani and there are endless recipes and preparations that are nothing short of an ethnic cuisine experience.

Menal Temples (20+ kms), Lakes and drives through villages around the area offer an excellent insight into authentic Rajasthani countryside. Bird watchers will find areas around lake most interesting while experiential travelers will find interacting with villages genuinely engaging.

Fort Begu is one of the hidden gems that one cannot recommend enough but still will take a true blue experiential traveler to be able to experience it to the fullest.
