Bagh Sarai Experience
Premium Jungle Lodge
(Nivalink Trip Dated - 23 January 2008)
Bandhavgarh is the best park when it comes to probability of tiger sighting. Bandhavgarh is accessible from Jabalpur (200 kms) / Umaria (32 kms) and Katni (100 kms) stations / Kanha (260 kms).
At Bagh Sarai, you will be the guest of Neeraj Pathania and his team. Neeraj is well known for his work with National Geographic and Discovery Channel.
Days at Bandhavgarh begin in the early morning. Enter the park before sunrise using the Gori Gate or Tala Gate. One looks for signs of Tiger movement, pugmarks and listening for the alarm calls of Langur monkeys, Chital and Sambar Deer to track the wild cats.
You can re-enter the park by late afternoon again on a jeep looking for wildlife, birds and Tigers. Just before sunset, the predator activity increases and Tigers, Leopards and Sloth Bears may be spotted. In-between game drives lets you explore the forest trails, which leads you into thicker jungle and to traditional tribal villages. A visit to the village school can be organised, which is just 2 minutes from main gate.
As one sips a pre-dinner drink, the evening chorus of the Mottled Wood Owl in the branches of the Sal trees and packs of communicating Jackals begins. At Bagh Sarai, accommodation is comfortable but not the main focus. The focus is undoubtedly on the park, wildlife and bird watching.
Bagh Sarai is recommended for serious wildlifers, birds watcher, photographers and those who love nature and want to understand tiger habitat better.
