Aanavilasam Luxury Plantation House is a new (2009) plantation house on 7 acres of private estate. (Just 8 km from Thekkady (Periyar wildlife sanctuary) It is surrounded by a pristine Cardamom and Pepper plantation. Owned by Salim Pushpanath a photographer and publisher in Tourism.

As a vacation retreat, this property gives the sensation of an exotic far away destination without the hassle of traffic. Luxuriously appointed yet casual and welcoming, this is a boutique accommodation suited for individuals, couples, or small families in search of a personalized country retreat.

The entire accent of the concept is on exclusivity and style. Guests have an option to choose from Luxury suite rooms (600 sq ft) and Luxury Pool villas (900 sq ft). Both suites are individually styled and have an elegant country-house feel. Natural fabrics, like Indian linens, cottons, wools and silks add to the feeling of understated luxury. The Pool in the pool villa is like an infinity pool overlooking the plantation. It offers privacy and exclusivity for guests and is popular with honeymooners.

Aanavilasam is excellent option for a plantation stay as well as to see how the spices are grown, harvested and processed. A small, friendly village, where one can see and visit typical Kerala-style homes, is within walking distance. Guests can even opt for a cooking class to learn some bits of Kerala cuisine and opt for a walk around the area. Many exotic birds are spotted within the premises and would interest guests with interest in bird photography. Overall hospitality is informal and is recommended for well-heeled travellers looking at exclusivity and style.
