Detailed Itinerary

Day-1 Arrival at Almora Arrive at Almora (6500+ ft asl) by late evening. Almora is a Himalayan hamlet excellent for walks, treks and offers excellent Himalayan views in Winter (Oct - March).

Day-2 Temples around Almora Visit Jageshwar Shiva Temple complex (requires 30 kms one way detour). Jageshwar is believed to be the site of first of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The temple city comprises a cluster of 124 large and small stone temples, dating 9th to 13th century AD, with many preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Other temples around the area comprises ancient temples such as Katarmal Sun temple, Chetai temple, Banari Devi Temple.

Day-3 Binsar Sanctuary viist or a Village Walk or just relax and enjoy Himalayan hamlet character of the area Visit Binsar sanctuary (22 kms from Almora) for walking and bird watching OR Experiential travellers prefer to opt for a village walk around the area and visit Craft centres OR Guests can just sti back and enjoy Himalayan hamlet character and laidback charm of the area.

Day-4 Almora - Bhimtal Arrive at Bhimtal (62 kms - 2 hours - 4000+ ft asl), a lakeside destination renowned for its tranquility, wooded walks and bird watching. Explore area around (Wooded Walks, Trek, Bird watching, Boating) the lakes and enjoy lakeside character. Guests can visit other lakes like Sattal and Naukuchiatal.

Day-5 Excursion to Nainital OR Ramgarh / Mukteshwar Day excursion to Naintal visit Nainadevi temple and other sightseeing places like High Altitude Zoo, Hanuman Garhi, Naina Peak OR take a cable car ride to visit snow view point. Guests may choose to sit back and enjoy lakeside character of the area

Day-6 Departure After breakfast, depart for onward journey to Delhi / Kathgodham.

Almora :

  • Chetai Temple - The Golu Devta Chitai, a Shiva temple is a locally popular temple at 4 km short of main gate of Binsar wildlife sanctuary & 10 kms from Almora

  • Katarmal Sun temple - Katarmal Sun Temple is an 800 year old temple complex having 45 smaller shrines. Its one of the most prominent Sun Temples in the country after Konark.

  • Binsar Sanctuary - Binsar (20 kms from Almora) is situated at a height of 8000 ft asl and sports excellent Himalayan views in Winter. The sanctuary and reserve forest around are excellent for bird watchers in Winter. Walking / Hiking around the area is also popular.

  • Banari Devi Temple - Banari Devi Temple is a 9th century temple located 2 km from Jalna (1900 ft asl). The temple is octagonal in shape and has a broken stone statue of the four-armed Lord Vishnu reclining on Sheshnag. Kutumbari Devi Temple is situated nearby.

  • Jageshwar Temple - Jageshwar is a Hindu pilgrimage town at 36 km northeast of Almora. The temple city comprises a cluster of 124 large and small stone temples, dating 9th to 13th century AD, with many preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Jageshwar is believed by some to be the site of first of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Nageshvara Jyotirlinga (Some others believe Nagnath Aundha in Maharashtra or Nageshwar in Dwarka to be the Jyotirlinga).

Bhimtal :

  • Bhimeshwara Temple - Bhimeshwara Mahadev Temple, an old 17th century Shiva temple in the bank of Bhimtal lake,

  • Naukuchiatal / Sattal / Bhimtal Lakes - Considered lake districts of Kumaon, Bhimtal / Sattal / Naukuchiatal (5 kms from each other) are three high altitude (3000 - 4500 ft asl) lakes that offer green surroundings, wooded walks, excellent views and where guests can do a bit of Boating.

  • Sattal Lake - Sattal Lake is set amongst dense forests of oak and pine trees. Sattal is less visited as compared to Bhimtal and Naukuchiatal and therefore least touristy of lakes in Kumaon area. Migratory birds arrive here in large number in Winter and early Summer and therefore the lake is excellent for Bird watching.

Bhimtal - Bhimtal is an idyllic and scenic lakeside destination and a complete contrast to the touristy and crowded Nainital. Hills around Bhimtal are good for walks, treks and bird watching.
