Detailed Itinerary

Day-1 Arrive at Nainital. Sightseeing in and around Nainital Arrive at Nainital. Nainital (6500+ ft asl) is a renowned lakeside hill station in Kumaom region of Uttarakhand. Visit Naina Devi temple / Hanuman Garhi temple / High Altitude Zoo. Enjoy boat ride at Naini Lake and / OR take a cable car ride to visit snow view point. Enjoy walk on the mall in evening.

Day-2 Day viist to Bhimtal / Sattal / Naunchiatal and Ramgarh / Mukteshwar Half-day excursion of the lake tour visiting Lake district of Kumaon (i.e. Sattal / Bhimtal / Naukuchiatal) (25 - 35 kms from Nainital). Enjoy boating in serene Bhimtal lake. Visit Bhimtal Shiva temple. Travel to Orchard areas of Ramgarh / Mukteshwar (40 kms - 1.5 hours). Visit Mukteshwar Shiva Temple. Return by evening.

Day-3 Walking in Pangot or simply relax Experiential travellers may opt to visit Pangot (15 kms) for walks / treks and bird watching. Guests looking to relax can just enjoy a lakeside character of the area.

Day-4 Nainital - Almora Proceed to Almora (6500+ ft asl, 68 kms - 2 hrs). Almora is a Himalayan hamlet excellent for walks, treks and offers excellent Himalayan views in Winter (Oct - March). Enroute guests can visit Jageshwar Shiva Temple complex (requires 30 kms one way detour). Jageshwar is believed to be the site of first of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The temple city comprises a cluster of 124 large and small stone temples, dating 9th to 13th century AD, with many preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

Day-5 In and around Almora or a Village Walk After breakfast, half day sightseeing tour visiting Katarmal ancient temples such as Sun temple, Chetai temple, Banari Devi in the area. Guests can also visit Deer Park near Almora and Binsar sanctuary (22 kms from Almora) for walking and bird watching. Experiential travellers prefer to opt for a village walk around the area.

Day-6 Almora - Corbett Proceed to Corbett (150 kms - 5 hours) via Ranikhet. Guests travelling in Summer stopover at Ranikhet visiting Apple orchards.

Day-7 Morning and Evening Safaris Morning and Evening safaris in Corbett. Bijrani, Durgadevi, Sitabani and Jhirna are 4 ranges. Based on area of interest (Bijrani is best for having a chance to sight a tiger. Sitabani and Durgadevi are good for Bird watching) and location of the jungle lodge one can pick.

Day-8 Departure Depart for onward journey.

Detailed Sightseeing

Almora :

  • Chetai Temple - The Golu Devta Chitai, a Shiva temple is a locally popular temple at 4 km short of main gate of Binsar wildlife sanctuary & 10 kms from Almora

  • Katarmal Sun temple - Katarmal Sun Temple is an 800 year old temple complex having 45 smaller shrines. Its one of the most prominent Sun Temples in the country after Konark.

  • Binsar Sanctuary - Binsar (20 kms from Almora) is situated at a height of 8000 ft asl and sports excellent Himalayan views in Winter. The sanctuary and reserve forest around are excellent for bird watchers in Winter. Walking / Hiking around the area is also popular.

  • Banari Devi Temple - Banari Devi Temple is a 9th century temple located 2 km from Jalna (1900 ft asl). The temple is octagonal in shape and has a broken stone statue of the four-armed Lord Vishnu reclining on Sheshnag. Kutumbari Devi Temple is situated nearby.

  • Jageshwar Temple - Jageshwar is a Hindu pilgrimage town at 36 km northeast of Almora. The temple city comprises a cluster of 124 large and small stone temples, dating 9th to 13th century AD, with many preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Jageshwar is believed by some to be the site of first of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Nageshvara Jyotirlinga (Some others believe Nagnath Aundha in Maharashtra or Nageshwar in Dwarka to be the Jyotirlinga).

Corbett :

  • Wildlife and Bird Watching in Corbett - Corbett offers one of the best nature centric experiences in India and is renowned for its riverside beauty, Mahaseer / Catfish angling, walking, wildlife and Bird watching. Jeep safaris are on offer from 4 ranges (popular being Birjrani, Durgadevi, Jhirna). Corbett is home to the highest number of Bird species (resident as well as migratory) among all other parks and areas in India. Wildlife here comprises elusive Tiger, Leopard alongwith a range of well sighted deer species.

  • Walking in Corbett - Walking around reserve areas of corbett is considered an excellent experience for those interested in nature and walking. While walking in and around Core area is not allowed, There are number of established trails in buffer areas around Corbett. Some of them are those taken by Jim Corbett himself. Guests staying at Riverside Hotels in Corbett are able to do riverside walks.

Nainital :

  • Naini Temple - Naini temple is located on the northern shore of Naini lake. The presiding deity of the temple is Maa Naina Devi and is considered one of the Shaktipeetha temples.

  • Naini Lake - Naini Lake is situated in centre of the Nainital and is a prime attraction where tourists enjoy a bit of boating.

  • Snow View Point Nainital - Snow View point is approached via a cable car ride from Mall area of Nainital. Its a popular ride with tourists.

  • Pt. G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo - Pt. G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo is a popular tourist visit option. The zoo has several endangered species of animals in the Himalayas, and animals like Snow Leopard, Tibetan wolf, Sambar, Leopard Cat and Himalayan Bear.

  • Hanumarngarhi - Hanumangarhi also known as Hanuman Garh, is located at an altitude of 6000+ ft asl and is home to Lord Hanuman temple and excellent views of the area.

  • Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple - Mukteshwar gets its name from an 350-year-old temple to Shiva known as Mukteshwar Dham, situated atop the highest point in the town. The area offers excellent Himalayan views in Winter (Oct - March)

New Delhi - Delhi is the capital city of India and a major International arrival point and a major tourist destination. Red Fort, Qutab Minar, Lotus Temple, Jama Masjid, India Gate, Birla Temple, Mughal Gardens, Lodi Gardens, Rail Museum, Doll Museum, Zoological Park etc remain major tourist attractions of Delhi.

Nainital - Nainital is colonial era hill station (6500 ft asl) that is set around the lake Naini. Nainital offers good weather in summer and a popular ex-Delhi weekend Getaway.

Almora - Almora (6700 ft) is known for the spectacular himalayan views (Oct - March) that it offers and its proximity to ancient Shiva temples of Jageshwar and Bageshwar.

Corbett - Corbett experience is one of the best wildife expereinces in India alongwith Kanha, Nagarhole and Kaziranga. Corbett is good for bird watching and Wildlife.
