Detailed Itinerary

Day-1 Arrive at Agra. Visit Taj Mahal in the evening. Arrive at Agra. Agra is a renowned Heritage Destination and home to the Taj Mahal, one of the original Seven Wonders of the World. Visit Taj Mahal in the evening.

Day-2 Morning visit to Agra Fort. Travel to Bah (Chambal Area). Evening visit to Bateshwar Temple. Boat ride for Bird watching.  Morning visit to Agra Fort and other monuments in Agra. Proceed in afternoon to Bah (80 kms - 1.5 hrs) via Agra. Chambal area around Bah is renowned for being a prime destination for Migratory bird watching and Alligators (Gharials). Visit Bateshwar Temple in the evening, time permitting. Birds are generally found on the riverfront around Bateshwar Temple. A closer look at the birds is possible by taking a boat ride in the river.

Day-3 Morning River Safari. Afternoon visit to the Fort. Morning River Safari in the Chambal River. Chambal river is characterised by ravines on both its sides. 200+ varieties of migratory Birds thrive in these ravines and make them their nesting site. Alligators (Gharials) and Marsh Crocodiles are found in good numbers in the River and are easily spotted during the safari.

Day-4 Visit Sarus Crane Reserve and Evening visit to the villages around the area. The Sarus Crane Conservation Reserve starts around 30 kms from the Chambal Safari Lodge, extending to about 100 kms. It is a widespread wetland area, interspersed by cultivated fields, where large numbers of the Sarus Cranes breed. Villages and farms around Bah are good for a walk, understanding local lifestyle and also a bit of bird watching as number of birds are found around the area.

Day-5 Departure Depart to Agra (80 kms) for a train for onward journey.

  • Taj Mahal - The Taj Mahal is often the reason to visit India. Its a monument built by Shahjehan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal and became symbol of love world over. Taj Mahal today is a major attraction and one of the original seven wonders of the world.

  • Bateshwar Temple - Bateshwar Temples are a set of 108 Shiva temples on banks of River Yamuna and is most unique as its one of the rare temples where Shiva is depicted as a person and not a Linga. Shortly after Bateshwar Temple, Yamuna River meets the Chambal River and the entire area is haven for Bird watchers. there is a healthy population of allgators as well. Boats are available on hire for guests.

Chambal - The National Chambal Sanctuary consists of about 400 km of the Chambal River. Chambal is located 80 km south of Agra on Rajasthan, UP and Madhya Pradesh border in the legendary Chambal Valley. The area is a haven for bird watcher and excellent for sighting alligators.
