Detailed Itinerary

Day-1 Arrival Bhubaneswar Arrive by afternoon and thereafter visit the ancient temples like Lingaraj-the biggest temple in Bhubaneswar (non-hindu are not allowed inside the temple premises), Mukteswar, Rajarani & 64 Yogini temple (Yogini sculpture having 64 different hair style & one of the four Yogini temple in India). Overnight at Bhubaneswar.

Day-2 Bhubaneswar Excursions / Explorations Post breakfast visit to Nandankanan Zoological Park-popular for white tiger (closed on Mondays). Thereafter you visit in afternoon Tribal Museum and Udayagiri / Khandgiri Caves followed by a visit to Ekambra Haat, a craft centre for shopping.

Day-3 Bhubaneswar-Konark-Puri  After breakfast proceed to Puri. En-route visit through Dhauli Buddhist Shanti Stupa, Pipili appliqué work village & market, Sun temple at Konark (the UNESCO World heritage monument), Chandrabhaga beach. On arrival, check-in to the Hotel. After fresh-up visit to the temple of Universal God Lord Jagannath (One of the four Dham. Non hindu are not allowed inside the temple premises. They can see from the roof top of Raghunandan library which closed on Sunday). Evening leisure at golden beach Puri/visit to the beach market.

Day-4 Excursion trip to Chilika Post breakfast drive to Satapada (One end of Chilika Lagoon). Enjoy the motor boat ride in the largest brakish water lagoon of Asia and explore Sea mouth, Rajhans Island (drive pass), rare Irrawady dolphins, local birds etc. Back to Puri. Rest of the day leisure at golden beach/free for independent activities.

Day-5 Departure from Bhubaneshwar Witness the sunrise at golden beach, Puri. After breakfast proceed to Bhubaneswar (70 kms/1.5 hrs), en-route visit Raghurajpur artisan village, Sakhigopal temple before departure.

Bhubaneswar :

  • Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves - Udayagiri is a Buddhist complex in Orissa comprising of major stupas and monasteries. Udayagiri is part of Puspagiri University, a Buddhist seat of learning that existed until the 11th century (alongwith Latagiri and Ratnagiri). Khandagiri is home to a prominent Digambara Jain Temple.

  • Raja Rani Temple - Raj Rani Temple is an 11th century ancient temple and renowned for its architecture. There is no presiding deity and therefore no pujas are offered here.

  • Mukteswar Temple - This is a 10th century temple decorated with intricate carvings and is regarded as a fine example of Kalinga architecture.

  • Lingaraja Temple - Impressive 11th-century Shiva temple and a well-visited temple for its architecture and its pilgrimage significance.

  • Bindu Sagar - A holy tank near Brahma temple and Lingaraja temple visited as part of the pilgrimage circuit.

  • Dhauli Giri - Dhauli Giri is significant from Buddhism from where King Ashoka renounced everything and turned to Buddhism.

  • Vaital Deul Temple - Vaital Deul Temple is a eight century temple situated near Bindu Sarovar where main deity is Chamunda, the Tantric form of Goddess Durga.

  • Nandankanan Zoo - Nandankanan Zoo is about 15 km from Bhubaneswar towards Cuttack and is home to White Tigers and a range of other species of animals.

  • Jagannath Puri Temple Complex - Jagannath Temple is established in the 12th century and is one of the major pilgrim centres in India. The main temple of Jagannath is an impressive structure constructed in Kalinga architecture, with a height of 65 meters. There are number of temples are a part of the temple complex. Kanchi Ganesha Temple, Narasingha Temple (11th Century. 58 high), Vimala Temple (13th Century. 60" high), Lakshmi Temple (12th Century), Surya Temple (17th Centuty and 63" high),Mukti Mandap (1578 AD, 16 pillared temple) etc are temples that are visited by the pilgrims.

  • Konark Sun Temple - Konark Sun Temple is a 13th century Sun Temple. The temple is one of the most renowned temples in India and is a World Heritage Site. It is considered one of the Seven heritage Wonders of India. The Sun Temple, built in the thirteenth century, was conceived as a gigantic chariot of the Sun God, with twelve pairs of exquisitely ornamented wheels pulled by seven horses. Quite a bit is still intact and therefore a delight for any heritage traveller.

  • Chilika Lake - Accessible from Puri (50 kms from Satpara), Chilika Lake is is the largest coastal lagoon in India and the second largest lagoon in the World. It is the largest wintering ground for migratory birds on the Indian sub-continent.The lagoon hosts over 160 species of birds in the peak migratory season.
