Detailed Itinerary

Day-1 Arrive at Guwahati. Evening Boat ride in Brahmaputra River. Arrive at Guwahati. Guwahati is largest city of Assam and access point for Wildlife Destinations, Plantation areas, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.Visit to Kamakhya Temple (Shaktipeetha) and undertake Brahmaputra Boat Cruise in the evening.

Day-2 Travel to Bhalukpong. Visit Tipi Orchid Centre. Proceed to Bhalukpong (2000 ft asl, 215 kms - 5 hrs). Bhalukpung lies on the border of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, it is a place of enthralling scenic beauty. The sparkling river Jia Bhorali which passes through Bhalukpung is a nature and adventure lover's paradise. Bhalukpong is also a transit stay enroute Tawang. Visit Tipi Orchard Centre (5 kms).

Day-3 Proceed to Dirang Proceed to Dirang (5000 ft asl - 180 kms - 8 hrs). Dirang is a riverside town and a transit point for travelling to Tawang. Dirang is blessed with exceptional Himalayan beauty. Time permitting guests can undertake walks around the area.

Day-4 Proceed to Tawang  Proceed to Tawang (145 kms - 7 hours) via Sella Pass at 13,700 ft. The route is blessed with exceptional Himalayan beauty and drive is nothing short of an experience. Tawang (10000 ft asl) is the largest Monastery in India and is one of the oldest. The monastery belongs to the Gelugpa school and has a religious association with Drepung Monastery in Lhasa.

Day-5 Spend a day at Tawang Spend a day at Tawang. Visit Tawang Monastery complex and spend time to experience spirituality of the area. Guests can look to undertake short walks around the area, visit market and nearby lakes.

Day-6 Tawang - Bomdila Proceed for Bomdila (8000 ft asl - 185 kms - 7 hrs). Bomdila is a beautiful small town from where one can see the brilliant landscape and snow-clad mountains of the Himalayan Range.

Day-7 Proceed to Kaziranga, Proceed to Kaziranga (245 kms - 8 hrs). Kaziranga is is a renowned Wildlife Destination and is visited for the Wildlife and Bird watching Experience it offers. One can spot one-horned Rhinos and wide ranging migratory Birds (Tiger population is healthy but not sighted as easily as other parks in Central India).

Day-8 Morning Elephant Safari and Evening Jeep Safari in Kaziranga Early morning elephant safari and post lunch can visit to handloom center, craft village. Evening Jeep safari in Kaziranga.

Day-9 Departure Depart to Guwahati (225 kms - 4.5 hours) for onward journey.

Bhalukpong :

  • Tipi Orchid Research Centre - Tipi is situated a few kilometers away from Bhalukpong. Tipi Orchid Research centre houses more than 500 species of orchids.

Bomdila :

  • Bomdila Monastery - Bomdila Monastery (1965) is a renowned monastery of the Bomdila area, visited by locals and guests travelling to Tawang.

Dirang :

  • Hot Water Springs of Dirag - Dirang is renowned for its hot springs located 4 kms from Dirang enroute to Tawang.

  • Farms of Dirang - Dirang is renowned for its orchards. Apple and Kiwi are extensively grown in the area and guests visit Regional Apple Nursery, and Kiwi Farms around Dirang

  • National Yak Research Centre - The National Research Centre on Yak at Dirang has a yak farm at 8500 ft asl where nore than 150 yaks of different varieties are being housed

Guwahati :

  • Kamakhya Temple - The Kamakhya Temple is a Shakti Peeth temple situated in western part of Guwahati. It is an important Hindu pilgrimage destination and also visited by Tantric worshipers.

  • Brahmaputra Sunset Cruise - A touristy evening cruise to experience mighty Brahmaputra river and take some pictures of the area around the sunset.

Kaziranga :

  • Kaziranga National Park - Kaziranga is the biggest reserve in Assam and one of the best wildlife experiences in whole of India. Main Attraction of Kaziranga is one-horned rhinos. Kaziranga is also home to a large number of birds like crested serpant eagle, Fishing Eagles, Pelicans, Bengal Floricans, Jungle Fowl, Black naked stork etc.Kaziranga covers 430 sq kms and it consists of three ranges viz. Kohora Range, Bagori Range and Agaratoli Range. Kaziranga is one of the few parks where Elephant safaris are conducted.

Tawang :

  • Tawang Monastery - Tawang Monastery (10000 ft asl - 17th Century) is one of the largest monasteries of Mahayana sect in Asia and the largest in India. It is said to be one of the biggest Buddhist monasteries in the world outside of Lhasa with about 450 monks studying there at any given time. There is also a Center for Buddhist Cultural Studies where young monks are taught arithmetic, English and Hindi as well as their traditional monastic education. The present Gyalsey Rinpochey lives and teaches at Tawang. Tawang is one of the remotest areas of India and a road Journey to Tawang is nothing short of an experience.
