This is a classic Malabar circuit itinerary that combines Plantation highlands (Coorg and Wayanad), Wildlife and Bird watching (Kabini / Nagarhole), Rainforests (Wayanad), Backwaters (Nileshwar) and Idyllic Beaches (Bekal). The areas traversed are not touristy and offer guests a complete naure centric experience of the Malabar region.

Detailed Itinerary

Day-1 Arrival at Coorg Arrival at Mangalore and Proceed to Coorg (2500-3500 ft asl, 150 kms - 4 hours). Coorg is renowned for its Coffee Plantations, Luxury Resorts / Homestays and salibrious climate all round the year.

Day-2 Dubare Elephant Camp, Tibetan Monastery, Nisargadhama Visit. Visit Dubare Elephant camp (Elephant ride, Coracle Ride), Tibetan Monastery and Cauvery Nisargadhama (Open Zoo). Explore local market and Kodagu Cuisine. Visit Abbey Falls and Omkareshwar temple during the day.

Day-3 Excursions / Adventure / Experiences in Coorg Excursion to Talacauvery (44 kms from Madikeri), origin of Cauvery river and a local pilgrim centre. Leisure profile guests may just relax and explore local markets and enjoy plantation views. Adventure oriented guests can opt for walk / trek.or visit Now or Neverland Adventure park in West Coorg. Experiential travellers may opt for a Plantation Lunch

Day-4 Coorg - Nagarhole. Evening Safari Proceed to Nagarhole (120 kms - 4 hrs). Nagarhole (Also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park or Kabini) is one of the best parks in India for a safari experience. Evening Safari.

Day-5 Morning Safari. Travel to Wayanad. Morning Nature walk / Safari. Proceed to Wayanad (4500 ft asl - 80-120 kms - 2.5-4 hrs). Wayanad in North Kerala is an evergreen area renowned for its Rainforest character, tea plantation, getaway resorts and salibrious climate all round the year. Evening visit to Banasurasagar Dam (18 kms).

Day-6 Wayanad Local Sightseeing Explore sightseeing around Wayanad such as Edakkal Caves, Pookode Lake / Boating, Soochipara Waterfalls, Ancient Jain Temple.

Day-7 Proceed to Bekal. Evening ride in Nileshwar Backwaters. Proceed to Bekal (190 kms - 5 hrs). Bekal is a beach getaway in North Kerala near Mangalore and visited for its luxury hotels, homestays and cultural experience it offers. Enroute take a backwater ride in Nileshwar Backwaters.

Day-8 Sightseeing in and around Bekal Explore tourist attractions in and around Bekal such as Bekal fort, Bekal beach, Pandiyan Kallu, Nileswaram Palace, Chandragiri fort, Ananathpura Temple etc

Day-9 Departure Depart to Mangalore (65 kms). Enroute guests may visit Manjeshwar Temple (40 kms from Bekal). Depart for onward journey.

Bekal :

  • Bekal beach - An idyllic Beach next to Bekal Fort overlooking Arabian Sea.

  • Pandiyan Kallu - A Rock face overlooking Arabian Sea. The rock face is good for Cliff Jumpers.

  • Bekal Fort - Bekal Fort overlooks Arabian sea and offers excellent views. Many fim shootings have been done around here with the fort and Arabian sea as the backdrop.

  • Chandragiri Fort - Chandragiri Fort is a 17th century fort set 150 feet above sea level and occupies an area of about seven acres

  • Ananthapura Lake Temple - Ananthapura Lake Temple is the only lake temple in Kerala and is believed to be the original seat Anathapadmanabha (Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Thiruvananthapuram)

  • Nileswaram Palace - Nileswaram Palace are sacred Grooves where Thayyam (a traditional ritual) is performed for tourists (especially inbound / overseas guests)

  • Srimad Anantheshwar Temple - Traditionally renowned as "Manjula Kshetra" and "The temple of 18 towns", Srimad Anantheshwar Temple is situated in Manjeshwar. The origin of the Temple dates more than a thousand years back and is very significant for the GSB (Gauda Saraswat Brahmin) community.

Coorg (Madikeri) :

  • Omkareshwar Temple Coorg - Omkareshwar temple in Coorg (built in 1820) overlooks a water tank and is located on outskirts of Madikeri, represents a mix of Islamic and Gothic style of architecture.

  • Abbey Falls - Abbey Falls are a set of waterfalls located at 8 kms from Madikeri One has to walk through plantations to access this. A popular tourist visit place.

  • Dubare Elephant Camp - Dubare elephant camp is set across Cauvery river (A short boat ride required to access) near Kushalnagar. Here guests arrive for an elephant interaction (Bathing an elephant is most enjoyable for kids and adults) and enjoy elephant ride & coracle ride. There is a full day elephant interaction programme guest can opt for or just it can be just a visit.

  • Cauvery Nisargdhama - Cauvery Nisargadhama is a 64 acre nature park having anmals in its nature habitat and is visited as a picnic spot. Elephant rides and feeding deers are an attraction for kids.

  • Neverland Adventure park - Neverland Adventure Park in West Coorg is one of the most popular day outing options for travellers to Coorg with a bit of interest in Adventure and activities.

  • Bylakuppe Buddhist Golden Temple - Bylakuppe is a tibetan settlement where an impressive monastery has been setup besides number of other monasteries, nunneries and temples in all the major Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Bylakuppe also has many buddhist universities for advanced buddhist practices.

  • Talacauvery - Talacauveri is the the origin of the river Cauvery. There are several temples around here and is a popular pilgrimage centre visited by tourists and pilgrims all round the year. Actual river origin is only visible in Monsoon.

Nagarhole :

  • Nagarhole National Park - Nagarhole (popularly known as Kabini") represents one of the best park experiences in India. Coracle ride, elephant training camp visit & elephant ride, boat ride, Jeep safaris comprise some of the activities in and around the park area.

Wayanad (Vythiri) :

  • Pookode Lake - Pookode lake is set near Vythiri having a fresh water aquarium, children's park and boat house.

  • Anantnath Swami Temple - Anantnath Swami Temple is a Jain temple at 6 km from Kalpetta and is dedicated to Ananthnath Swami, a Jain Tirthankar.

  • Banasura Sagar - Banasura Sagar Dam is one of the biggest Earth dam in Asia and it attracts lot of tourists for Boating.

  • Soochipara Falls - Soochipara Falls is a three-tiered 650+ feet waterfall in Wayanad at 15-20 minute drive from Meppadi. It takes 15 minutes walk from parking area to the waterfall. The cliff face here is excellent for rock climbing.

  • Edakkal Caves - Edakkal caves are renowned for its pre-historic carvings and paintings. The caves contain drawings that range over periods from as early as 5000 BC to 1000 BC.

Mangalore - Mangalore is a port and the largest town on coastal Karnataka it is the 2nd largest town in Karnataka. Mangalore is access point for Coastal Karnataka, Coorg, Chikmagalur, Hindu / Jain Pilgrimage and North Kerala.

Coorg (Madikeri) - Madikeri (3500 ft asl) is the district headquarters of the Coorg region and also the highest point in the area. Madikeri offers guests nature centric experience and is a base point to explore the area.

Nagarhole - Nagarhole (Or Rajiv Gandhi National Park) at 80 kms from Mysore is one of the best-managed parks in South India offering a very good park experience.

Wayanad (Vythiri) - Vythiri and Lakkidi are rain forests at just 65 kms from Calicut. Vythiri (3000 ft) is surrounded by rain forests and tea plantations all over and enjoy a pleasant weather all round the year.

Bekal - Bekal is situated on the seashore of Pallikara village,12 kms south of Kasargod town (NH-17) where some destination resorts and homestays are located.
