Detailed Itinerary

Day-1 Arrival at Mangalore. Travel to Murudeshwar. Visit Shiva Temple. Arrival at Mangalore. Travel to Murudeshwar (155 kms - 3 hours). Murudeshwar is a popular stopover on the Coastal Karnataka circuit renowned for its huge Lord Shiva situated right on the Beach and a renowned Lord Shiva Temple right next to it on the beach.

Day-2 Proceed to Udupi. Enroute visit Mookambika Temple. Proceed to Udupi (103 kms - 2 hrs). Enroute take a detour (25 kms) for Mookambika Temple at Kollur. Mookambika Temple is a renowned Pilgrimage centre in South India visited by families with Kids before they start Schooling (called Vidya Arambh). Guests enroute can also visit Temples around Kundapura such as Kotilingeshwara Temple (3 kms), Siddhi Vinayaka temple (10 kms) and Anegudde temple at Kumbashi (5 kms). Reach Udupi by afternoon. Udupi is a temple town at 60 kms North of Mangalore renowned for its Udupi Krishna Temple. Other temples to visit in and around Udupi include Shri Saibaba Temple, Kodavoor (2 kms), Shri Janardhana & Mahakali Temple, Ambalpady (1 km) and Shri Venkataramana Temple, Kalyanpur (2 kms).

Day-3 Day excursion to Sringeri Mutt and Annapoorneshwari Temple (Horanadu) Day excursion to Shri Sharadambha Temple, Shringeri (85Kms - 3 hours) and Annapoorneshwari Temple at Horanadu (near Kalasa). Return to Udupi by late evening. The drive is scenic through Western Ghats around Kudremukh Reserve Forest.

Day-4 Departure Depart to Mangalore (60 kms). Enroute visit Shri Durga Parameshwari Temple, Bappanadu (30 kms). Depart for onward journey.

Murudeshwar :

  • Murudeshwar Beach - Murudeshwar beach is a popular well visited beach. It is visited by locals and pilgrim travellers to Murudeshwar Shiva Temple.

  • Mookambika Temple Kollur - Temple of Mookambika Devi is one of the Seven Muktisthala pilgrimage sites in Karnataka. Mookambika temple is very significant in south India and visited especially for Vidhyarambha a ceremony / ritual for the initiation of children into literary world (before they start schooling).

Udupi :

  • Sri Krishna Udupi Temple - 13th Century Sri Krishna Udupi temple is a major Krishna pilgrimage centre and around which entire temple town of Udupi and its economy is based. Surrounding the Sri Krishna Matha are several temples, the most ancient being made of basic wood and stone of 1,500 years origin.

  • Mahakali Janardhan Temple - Ambalpady Mahakali Temple in Udupi is home to an ancient Mahakali temple. Lakshmi Janardhan Temple is also visited alongwith

  • Ambalpadi Janardhana Temple - Ambalpadi is home to an ancient Sri Janardana temple having Mahakali mandir by the side

  • Saibaba Temple Kodavoor - There is a renowned Saibaba Temple at 5 kms from Udupi near Malpe. The Saibaba temple complex also has Shri Nityananda Swami and Shri Raghavendra Swami temples.

  • Venkatramana Temple - Shri Venkataramana Temple Mulki is one of the oldest and prominent temples of Dakshina Kannada with a history of over 700 years. The temple has a unique record of unbroken darshan seva for the last 225 years.

  • Bappanadu Durga Parmeshwari Temple - Bappanadu Durga Parameshwari temple an 800 year old temple that is set on a riverside md-way between Udupi and Mangalore just off NH-17. It is a well visited pilgrim centre locally and regionally.

  • Guddattu Vinayaka Temple - Guddattu Vinayaka temple is a 1700+ years old Lord Ganesha temple where the natural rock formation similar to Ganesh Idols is seen inside a small cave such that water collects naturally and submerges the Ganesh Idol.

  • Anegudde Vinayaka Temple - Anegudde Vinayaka Temple, set on a small Hillock is a Lord Ganesha temple at Kumbashi is one of the most renowned temples of Kundapura area.
