Detailed Itinerary

Day-1 Arrival at Coorg. Possible visits enroute. Arrrive at Bangalore. Proceed to Coorg (2500-3500 ft asl - 250 - 6 hours). Coorg is renowned for its Coffee Plantations, Luxury Resorts / Homestays and salibrious climate all round the year. Enroute visit Tibetan Monastery, Dubare Elephant camp and Cauvery Nisargadhama, time permitting.

Day-2 Driving around Coorg Sightseeing options around include Omkareshwar Temple, Abbey Falls, Madikeri Fort etc. Driving around in Coorg is a recommended experience for plantation views and nature photography.

Day-3 Excursions / Adventure / Experiences in Coorg Excursion to Talcauvery (44 kms from Madikeri), origin of Cauvery river and a local pilgrim centre. Leisure profile guests may just relax and explore local markets and enjoy plantation views. Adventure oriented guests can opt for walk / trek.or visit Now or Neverland Adventure park in West Coorg. Experiential travellers may opt for a Plantation Lunch.

Day-4 Travel to Bandipur Via Mysore. Evening Safari. Proceed to Bandipur (188 kms - 5 hrs) Via Mysore. Guests not having visited Mysore may visit Mysore Palace . Bandipur is a Wildlife destination enroute to Ooty in Karnataka renowned for its Tiger Population. Evening Safari in Bandipur.

Day-5 Morning Safari. Travel to Ooty. Visit Pykara falls enroute. Morning Safari. Proceed to Ooty (50 kms - 2 hrs). Enroute guests can visit Pykara Falls (25 kms). Visit local Markets.

Day-6 In and around Ooty Sightseeing options closer to ooty to consider comprise Dodabetta Peak, Raj Bhawan, St Stephens Church, Rose garden, Botanical garden, Shooting point, Wax Museum.

Day-7 Excursion to Coonoor After Breakfast day excursion to Coonoor (25 kms) visit tea plantations, Catherine falls , Dolphin's Nose , Sim's park, and various other viewpoints

Day-8 Departure Depart to Coimbatore (90 kms - 2.5 hours) for onward journey.

Detailed Sightseeing

Bandipur :

  • Wildlife and Bird watching at Bandipur - Bandipur forests with its deciduous habitat is the ideal spot for viewing animals like elephant, gaur, wild boar, sambhar. 200+ varieties of birds are spotted in the area especially in winter (Oct - March) such as Paradise Fly-Catcher, Hornbill, Woodpecker, Thrush, Crested Hawk Eagle etc. Jeep safaris are arranged by few lodges around the area.

Coorg (Madikeri) :

  • Omkareshwar Temple Coorg - Omkareshwar temple in Coorg (built in 1820) overlooks a water tank and is located on outskirts of Madikeri, represents a mix of Islamic and Gothic style of architecture.

  • Madikeri Fort - Madikeri Fort was first built in the last quarter of the 17th century and was later rebuilt and renovated by Tipu Sultan and the British respectively in 18th and 19th Century. The fort is a tourist visit option today at Coorg. There is a museum as well.

  • Abbey Falls - Abbey Falls are a set of waterfalls located at 8 kms from Madikeri One has to walk through plantations to access this. A popular tourist visit place.

  • Dubare Elephant Camp - Dubare elephant camp is set across Cauvery river (A short boat ride required to access) near Kushalnagar. Here guests arrive for an elephant interaction (Bathing an elephant is most enjoyable for kids and adults) and enjoy elephant ride & coracle ride. There is a full day elephant interaction programme guest can opt for or just it can be just a visit.

  • Cauvery Nisargdhama - Cauvery Nisargadhama is a 64 acre nature park having anmals in its nature habitat and is visited as a picnic spot. Elephant rides and feeding deers are an attraction for kids.

  • Neverland Adventure park - Neverland Adventure Park in West Coorg is one of the most popular day outing options for travellers to Coorg with a bit of interest in Adventure and activities.

  • Bylakuppe Buddhist Golden Temple - Bylakuppe is a tibetan settlement where an impressive monastery has been setup besides number of other monasteries, nunneries and temples in all the major Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Bylakuppe also has many buddhist universities for advanced buddhist practices.

Ooty :

  • Ooty Botanical Gardens - The Botanical Garden is spread over 22-acres and is in existance since mid 1800s. A flower show is held every May. The Gardens have around a thousand species of plants, shrubs, ferns, trees, herbal and bonsai plants.

  • Government Rose Garden - The Government rose garden is the largest rose garden in India with more than 20,000 varieties of roses

  • Wax Museum - A wax museum on ooty Coonoor road, that houses life-size wax statues of Indian personalities.

  • Raj Bhavan Ooty - Raj Bhavan Ooty is the Summer residence of the Governor of Tamil Nadu. Gardens here consists of ornamental gardens in an area of about 9 acres, a rich lawn on 3 acres, four rosaries, two lily ponds, a sunken garden, two green houses, a vegetable garden and a nursery.

  • Ooty Lake - Ooty lake is spread over 60 acres offers boating to tourists and is a major tourist.

  • St Stephens Church - St. Stephens Church on Mysore road is one of the oldest churches in the Nilgiris area dated back to the 19th century

  • Doddabetta Peak - A view point surrounded by dense shola forests from where one can have a panoramic view of the area.

  • Pykara Lake - The Pykara Lake formed after a dam was constructed on Pykara river. There are two waterfalls over 50 meters height that are popularly known as Pykara falls and are a major tourist attraction. Enroute one also stops over at Shooting point, a point where many movies were shot in past.

  • Catherine Falls - Catherine Falls is a double-cascaded waterfall (250 ft height) located near Kotagiri and It is also a major tourist attraction.

Destination Overview

Coimbatore - Coimbatore is the second largest city in state of Tamil Nadu and a major textile and engineering hub. The plantation areas Coonnor and Valparai and hill station of ooty and kodaikanal are accessible from here.
