Detailed Itinerary

Day-1 Arrive Chandigarh - Shoghi. Nature walk in evening. Arrive Chandigarh and proceed to Shoghi (105 kms - 3.5 hrs). Time permitting opt for evening nature walk enroute spotting several species of flora and fauna (birds, barking deer, mountain goats etc.)

Day-2 Activiites in and around Shoghi Those interested in adventure can opt for activities such as Rappelling, Rock Climbing, Valley Crossing, Forest treks etc OR Guests interested in walking there are several walking trails of varying difficulty and duration 1-2 hours, half day, full day, night walks, walks along the World Heritage Kalka-Shimla Train track OR Those who just want to relax can enjoy nature and green backdrop.

Day-3 Shoghi - Shoja. Walks around Shoja. Proceed to Shoja (8500 ft asl, 158 kms - 5 hrs) via Jalori pass. Evening walk around Shoja, time permitting or just enjoy stunning views (Himalayan views on a clear day).

Day-4 Walks around Shoja Guests have option to take walks around the area. Options here are Serolsar Lake (5 kms - half day), Waterfall point (2 hour walk), Raghupur Fort (6 kms - half day) etc.

Day-5 Shoja - Raison. Rafting / Fishing or Walking Leave for Raison (80 kms - 3 hours). Half day excursion enroute for white water rafting is an option for guests. Guests can even do a bit of Trout Fishing enroute in Tirthan valley. Time permitting enjoy riverside character of the area and do some walking by the river.

Day-6 Adventure around Raison or excursion to Manikaran Guests have option of activities such as Mountain biking, Trekking, Nature Walks, Village visits or simply enjoy riverside character of the area or do a day visit to Manikaran Hot springs and Manikaran Sahib Gurdwara.

Day-7 Excursion to Solang Valley / Rohtang Pass  Excursion to Solang Valley (40 kms), hub of adventure sports in the area. Here Paragliding and Zorbing are popular. Organised skiing happens in Winter (Jan - March). Rohtang Pass (25 kms from Solang - 12000+ ft asl) is a popular albeit touristy excursion option for guests in Summer looking to touch and feel snow (Car restrictions for Rohtang Pass visit).

Day-8 Raison - Ropar Proceed to Ropar (Bharatgarh Fort) (240 kms - 6 hrs). Time permitting visit villages around the area.

Day-9 Around Ropar / Excursions / Picnic / Walks / treks etc. Visit Anandpur Sahib Gurdwara (20 kms) and Naina Devi Temple (43 kms) and Bhakra Nangal dam (55 kms) OR can explore fishing, bird watching, walks and forest treks around the area or spend a day with a picnic hamper on an island on Sutlej river.

Day-10 Departure Travel to Chandigarh (60 - 80 kms - 1.5 hours) and Depart for onward journey.

Detailed Sightseeing

Raison :

  • Solang Valley Ropeway ride - 15 kms from Manali town centre is Sollang nullah, a hub for a range of adventure activities all round the year (Skiing in Winter and Paragliding / Zorbing etc. in Summer). Ropeway here is popular for some stunning views of the area.

  • Skiing in Solang Valley - Solang Valley, 15 kms from Manali town is home to skiing in Winter. Ski lifts have been setup in 2011 for organised skiing.

  • Manikaran Sahib - Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara is commemorates the visit of Guru Nanak Dev to this area. It is a major Pilgrim centre for Sikh pilgrims arriving from all over from North India.

Ropar :

  • Gurudwara Sisganj Sahib - Gurudwara Sisganj Sahib in Anandpur Sahib is the holy place where the 9th Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib was cremated in 1675

  • Naina Devi Temple - Naina Devi Temple is situated on a hilltop at about 60 kms North of Chandigarh overlooking the Gobind Sagar lake. The temple is connected with National Highway No. 21 and accessible via a cable car ride from the base point. Naina Devi Temple is significant regionally and is a well visited temple throughout the year. Naina Devi Temple is also widely regarded as one of the Shakti Peetha.

  • Gobind Sagar Dam - Gobind Sagar is a man-made reservoir situated in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh. One of the worlds highest gravity dams, the Bhakra dam rises nearly 225.5 m above its lowest foundations. In October and November, when the water level of the reservoir is high, a series of regattas are also organised by the Tourism and Civil Aviation department. Water-skiing, sailing, kayaking and water scooter racing are popular water sports activities during this period.Major attractions of the lake include ferry rides and water sports like speedboating. Gobind Sagar was declared as a water fowl refuge in 1962 and is good for fishing.

Shoja :

  • Waterfall Point - Waterfall Point is nature at a distance of approximately one kilometre walk from Shoja

  • Serolsar Lake - Serolsar Lake is a beautiful lake, situated at a distance of around 5 km from the Jalori pass in Shoja. This lake is approachable via a walk from Shoja.

  • Raghupur Fort - Raghupur Fort was built at 11000 ft asl and has a small pond within its premises. Raghupur Fort is approached via a trek from Shoja.

Destination Overview

Chandigarh - Chandigarh is a major business centre and hub for Software, IT and ITES companies. Chandigarh is a tourist destination being a transit point for guests on Delhi - Manali route and an access point to visit neighboring hills of Himachal Pradesh and hill station of Shimla.

Shoghi - Shoghi is a wooded area 15 kms before Shimla. There are couple of adventure / nature oriented resorts here that are good for guests who want to do nothing of touristy Shimla and want to be by the nature.

Shoja - Shoja (or called Sohja or Sojha) is a Himalayan hamlet (8500 ft asl) 5 kms short of Jalori Pass. The area is blessed with exceptional Himalayan beauty and is excellent for walks, treks, bird watching and a nature centric experience.

Raison - Raison is a riverside location 15 kms after Kullu and 26 kms before Manali, known for off-beat and adventure orietnted resorts stays that offer excellent riverside experience.

Ropar - Ropar lies only 50 kms from Chandigarh. The major pilgrimage destinations in Ropar comprise Naina Devi, Anandpur Sahib and Chamkaur Sahib (16 kms). The famous Bhakra dam in Nangal lies on the boundary with the neighbouring state of Himachal Pradesh.
