Detailed Itinerary

Day-1 Arrival at Bhavnagar Arrive Ahmedabad and proceed to Bhavnagar (170 kms - 3 hours). Enroute visit Lothal which is a 4500 year old Harrapan (Indus Valley) archaeological site and Velavadar National Park (renowned for its Black Buck Population). Reach by evening.

Day-2 Travel to Diu via Palitana Travel to Diu (225 kms - 4.5 hrs) via Palitana. Palitana is a major pilgrimage destination and renowned for the temple complex (800+ Jain Temples) set on Shatrunjaya Hill that requires one to take 3000 steps to climb up the hills. Reach Diu by late evening. Diu, an erstwhile Portuguese Colony and now a popular beach getaway. Evening visit to the Nagoa beach.

Day-3 Sightseeing and activities around Diu Sightseeing around Diu includes Nagoa Beach, St. Pauls Church, Diu Museum, Diu Fort. Watersports include Para Sailing, water skiing, water scooter, Family boat and speedboats are on offer at Ahmadpur Mandvi beach.

Day-4 Travel to Dwarka via Somnath, Porbandar and Harsiddhi Temple Proceed to Dwarka (320 kms - 6.5 hrs) via Somnath (A Shiva Temple and a Jyotirlinga), Porbandar (birth place of Mahatma Gandhi) and Harsiddhi Temple (overlooking Arabian Sea). Reach Dwarka by evening. Dwarka is a renowned Pilgrim centre visited for the Dwarkadhish Temple (Lord Krishna Temple) and Nageshwar Temple (Lord Shiva Temple and a Jyotirlinga). Visit Dwarkadhish Temple in the evening. Dwarkadhish Temple is one of the most significant and visited Lord Krishna Temples in India.

Day-5 Temple visits in and around Dwarka. Proceed to Rakjot Early morning visit Okha for the Beyt Dwarka. Beyt Dwarka is an island accessible over a short boat ride where a prominent Lord Krishna Temple is located. Upon return visit Nageshwar Mahadev Temple enroute. Nageshwar temple is believed to be one of the 12 Jyotirlinga Temples. Visit Rukmini Devi Temple, Gomati Ghat Temples after returning to Dwarka. Travel to Rakjot (240 kms - 5.5 hours). Reach Rajkot by evening.

Day-6 Departure Depart for Ahmedabad (210 kms) for onward journey.

Detailed Sightseeing

Bhavnagar :

  • Talaja Hill - Talaja is home to important sites for Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism. Also, this place holds the importance to Buddhists as there are around 30 ancient Buddhist caves cut into rocks, with fine carving of Boddhisatva. The Ebhala Mandapa, a large hall with four octagonal pillars is the most impressive structure. There is a notable Jain temple on a hill alongside the town. The same hill has 13 Buddhist caves carved into solid rock. The caves are around 2000 years old, and require about a 15-20 min. walk up the hill to reach them.

  • Palitana Jain Pilgrimage - Palitana Temples (60 kms from Bhavnagar) are situated on a Shatrunjay hilltop, Palitana has over 863 temples, built in the 11th and the 12th century and are carved in marbles. It is said all the Jain Tirthankars, excepting Neminath, had attained nirvana here. Palitana Temples is a complex built over a hill with 3000+ steps having hundreds of temples. It is most significant pilgrimage in Jainism and is a very popular destination for all guests travelling to Gujarat.

Diu :

  • Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple - Somnath is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga Shiva temples in India. This lies overlooking Arabian Sea and has one of the most scenic locations among all Jyotirlinga temples. Temple has a rich history and was built and razed down several times over the centuries and was finally restored to its current form after Indian independence.

Dwarka :

  • Dwarkadheesh Temple - Dwarkadish Temple is a shore temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and one of the major Krishna pilgrimages. Temple is 78.3 meters high and is built on 72 pillars. Vajranabha, Lord Krishnas grandson built the temple. The Jagat temple, which forms the sanctum of this temple, is believed to be at least 2500 years old.

  • Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple - Nageshwar Temple a few kms from Dwarka is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples and is well visited. The temple features a Massive Shiva statue right outside the Temple. Interestingly Jageshwar Temple in Almora and Nagnath temple in Aundha also are believed to the Nageshvara Jyotirlingas. Therefore guests visit them as well as Jyotirlingas along with Nageshwar Temple near Dwarka.

  • Beyt Dwarka - Dwarka Pilgrimage is not considered complete without a visit to Beyt Dwarka, It is believed that Lord Krishna resided here with his family. It takes about half-an hour to across a ferry ride to reach Beyt Dwarka off coast of Okha (30 kms from Dwarka).

  • Harsiddhi Mata Temple - Harsiddhi mata temple is located 45 kms from Porbandar on Dwarka road and is a renowned local pilgrim Centre. Guests on Somnath - Dwarka route make a stop. Temple location on a hilltop overlooking stunning arabian sea views makes it a popular stop.
