Detailed Itinerary

Day-1 Arrival at Ahmedabad and travel to Dasada. Evening Safari for Bird Watching.  Arrival at Ahmedabad. Travel to Dasada (90 kms - 1.5 hrs). Dasada, part of Little Rann of Kutch is a bird watching destination. The Little Rann of Kutch Wildlife sanctuary spreads over 4950 sq km in area comprising a range habitats from saline desert plains, arid grasslands, rocky and thorn scrub to lakes and marshes. Evening safari around Dasada.

Day-2 Bird Watching around Dasada "Explore Bird Watching around Dasada. Nawa Talao lake, the wetland near Patdi fort and many reservoirs of Surendranagar district offer good winter birding opportunities. Birds like rose-coloured starling and green pigeon are often seen at Dasada village.

Day-3 Travel to Bera. Enroute viist Sun Temple at Modhera and Stepwells and Patan. Evening Leopard Safari.  Travel to Bera (300 kms - 6 hours) via Step wells of Patan and Sun Temple of Modhera (World Heritage Sites). Bera is a destination renowned for its Leopard Sightings and where one can spot a good number of Migratory birds in winter and Crocodiles. Reach by afternoon in time for the late afternoon / evening Jeep Safari. Leopards generally are spotted in late evenings and therefore best chance to spot a leopard.

Day-4 Morning and Evening Safaris around Bera Early morning safari for bird watching around the area, Visit enjoy the jungle safari. Bera is good for bird-watching. Other wildlife sightings comprise Blue Bulls, Wild Jungle Cats, Hyenas, Wolves, Jackals, Hare, Red Fox etc.

Day-5 Departure Travel to Ahmedabad (280 kms - 5.5 hours) for onward journey.

Bera :

  • Leopard Sighting and Bird watching at Bera - Bera is situated in close proximity to the Jawai Dam and is the destination for Leopard sightings and where one can also spot more than 150 species of Birds. Jeep safaris are organised by lodges around Bera.

Dasada :

  • Little Rann of Kutch Wildlife Sanctuary - The Little Rann of Kutch Wildlife sanctuary spreads over 4950 sq km in area comprising a range habitats from saline desert plains, arid grasslands, rocky and thorn scrub to lakes and marshes. The sanctuary is known for its herds of the Asiatic Wild ass (one of its kind) alongwith population of gazelle, blue bull, wolf, and Indian foxes, jackal, jungle cat, hare etc. However it is now a hugely popular bird watching site with a number of birding sights where one can see birds such as bustard, sandgrouse, partridge, bustard quails, larks, eagle, short toed eagle, vulture, falcon, flamingoes, pelicans, ducks, cranes and storks etc. Oct-April is best time to spot migratory birds. Nawa Talao and Kharagoda Lakes are popular for bird watching.

  • Modhera Sun temple - The Sun Temple (1026 AD) at Modhera in Gujarat, is a temple dedicated to the Hindu Sun-God, Surya. Sun temple today is a well maintained site and a popular visit enroute for all travellers. There is a stepwell within a temple complex and Sun temple is characterised by erotic carvings.

  • Stepwell at Patan - Rani-ki-Vav at Patan (11th Century) is a set of stepwells and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site List since 1998. This magnificent east facing step well measures approximately 64m long, 20m wide & 27m deep. A stepped corridor compartmented at regular intervals with pillared multi-storeyed pavilions is a unique feature. It was one of the largest and the most sumptuous structures of its type. There are many Tourist Attractions around Patan including Forts, Vavs (Step Wells), Talavs (Lakes) and places of worships. Salvivad, a place where Patolas (Textile handicraft) are woven along with places where traditional clay toys are made are also worth visiting. Patan is typically visited enroute from Ahmedabad to Mount Abu / Palanpur / Ambaji or as excursion ex-Ahmedabad alongwith Modhera Sun Temple.

Ahmedabad - Ahmedabad, Gujarat's commercial capital and is one of the major industrial cities in India. Ahmedabad has always been a centre for handicrafts having an old city character, temples, textile museum and heritage monuments that attract tourists.

Dasada - Dasada today has emerged as a major bird watching centre (Oct- March is the best season) and a popular getaway that is visited all round the year.

Bera - Bera is situated 50 kms of Ranakpur and 150 kms from Udaipur and known for Leopard sightings.
