Villianur Temple Car Festival

Festival | Religious Festival

Villianur Temple Car Festival is an ancient ritual for the deity Thirukamemswara Kukilambal. The diety God is taken out for the demonstration in the well-decorated chariot, also known as Temple Car.

The car is usually brought out on festival days, when many people pull the cart. The festival is attended by pilgrim tourists as well as inbound travellers.

In the month of August, the Temple Car festival is celebrated in Veerampattinam, a fishing village near Ariyankuppam when temple car is paraded around the village with the temple deity.
