Spitok Gustor Zanskar
The festival ‘Spituk Gustor’, a yearly two-day festival at the Spituk Monastery in Ladakh. A characteristic of this Spituk Gustor is the mask dance carried out by the priests.
The Spituk Monastery is recognized for its compilation of Buddhist objects. It houses a group of antique masks, historic arms, images and plentiful Thanka pictures, all done in vegetable-stand colours.
The monastery houses 100 monks and a giant statue of Kali (unveiled during the annual Spitok festival).
