Gita Jayanti is celebrate to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bhagvad-Gita, the sacred text of the Hindus at Kurukshetra.

During December, Geeta Jayanti Festival / Kurukshetra Festival is held in Kurukshetra and pilgrims from all over gather here. A normal ritual observed is to take bath in holy water of the sacred tanks - Sannihit Sarovar and Brahma Sarovar. Performances are held during the festival that the event is graced by many important people.

Kurukshetra has been hub of pilgrimage for as long as the history itself. Sage Manu wrote the Manusmriti here and it has found mention in Mahabharata. Kurukshetra was visited by divine personalities like L Gautama Buddha and some eminent Sikh Gurus and therefore is an important pilgrimage stopover.
