Brahmotsav in Tirupati

Festival | Religious Festival

Brahmotsavam is one of the most important functions in Tirupati. Thousands of devotees gather to witness and particpate in nine-day festival at Tirupati.

The nine-day event is marked by paying respects to Sri Venkateswara Swami. It is believed that the festival was started when Lord Brahma worshiped Sri Balaji on the banks of Lake Pushkarini in Tirupati to thank him for the protection of mankind. Hence the festival bears his name 'Brahmotsavam' which means Brahma's Utsav or Bramha's Festival.
