Bhumchu is a yearly festival in Sikkim held at Tashiding Monastery. A sacred vase used by Guru Padmasambhava himself is still kept inside the monastery. Every year the level of water contained in the vase is measured; the level of water predicts the future for the coming year. A part of the holy water is then distributed among devotees and the vase is refilled with river water, which is sealed only to be opened at the next Bhumchu.
