Baisakhi marks the beginning of the New Year in Punjab (April). It is celebrated to commemorate the ripening of winter (rabi) harvest.

Kirtans and recital of passages from the Granth Sahib take place in the gurdwaras along with distribution of delicious Kada Prasad and devotees undertaking Kar Seva, a form of community service are held in Gurudwaras.
