Arattupuzha Pooram

Festival | Elephant Festival

 Arattupuzha Pooram is the oldest pooram festivals of Kerala and is held at Arattupuzha Temple. Evey today, 61 elephants feature in the pooram procession on the sixth day of the seven day festival.

Traditional musical instruments like Panchavadyam are another attractions of the festivities. The elephants wear bright coloured umbrellas and parasols. The elephant carry the images of the deities of 41 neighbouring village temples.
